About 90 days until AutoRama, lookin' GREAT!!
Guess I have been busy, Autorama is still maybe possible?
Here is how the kick and door panels look.

Wiring inside the cab is done

Battery hidden up under pass. front fender

Everything in the Engine bay is complete, This is how she'll look, minus a couple heater hose clamps and a radiator cap.

Front of the truck wiring is mostly complete, move back to the rear of the truck this weekend and hopefully test it all?
Looking GREAT!! I recall the wiring instructions from E-Z Wiring suggested a simple start up procedure. "Start by turning OFF All Accessories. Put the ignition switch in the OFF position and close the doors to make sure the dome light is off. Now connect the Positive battery cable BEFORE connecting the negative cable. Before connecting the negative cable check for current draw using a 12V test light between the negative post and the negative cable. No light, no current. If you have no light or just a very dim glow (radio memory circuit?, other digital memory?) it's safe to connect the negative cable and start checking operation of the system."
I did that on both of mine and it gave me peace of mind that I wasn't going to let a bunch of smoke escape from the wires. ;)
We all know about how electronic stuff runs on smoke... if the smoke gets out of the box, thing quit running!! Nothing worse than that sticky sweet smell and knowing that we've smoked a wire (or two).
Your build looks fantstic! I love everything about this truck, the paint, the upholstry, the engine, the little details - everything is perfect.
So all the wiring stuff works.
Added a tranny cooler under the bed.
Not so sure we are going to make Autorama... If we are done and they have a spot maybe... I did get it registered on Friday, We are having some issues with the sniper, I believe some sort of backfeed issue in the wiring trying to use the sniper for timing control, did a bunch of tests, datalogging and still need to isolate the issue, eliminate possible wiring issues, worst case we skip the timing control off the sniper and wire the distributor directly to the ignition control box. For the brief time we have had it running its going to be awesome, been messing with it for over a week now, don't wanna move forward buttoning things all the way up until all is good. Stereo system also set up and sounds pretty awesome.

Looking REALLY GOOD!! Glad I didn't book a flight to the AutoRama SLC to see it!!
That's bloody gorgeous!
If that was mine I'd be as chuffed as a steam engine.
Yeah, I didn't want to register for the show until I knew we would be finished so by the time I reached out they where full with 30 cars on the wait list, next year I guess?
We are also supposed to be in southern Utah this Saturday but rains are forecasted so we aren't going to bother. Instead I guess we are going to spend our time this weekend taking our time finishing the last of it? Just have to get alignment figured out, filler panels put on, the custom rear ones are not fitting right and paints have been chipped, Then lots of touch up paints, polishing and waxing. I still haven't even driven it and of course its been nothing but crap weather for weeks especially on our days off, go figure.
I did just get word yesterday that I have been invited to put the truck in up at the Cache Valley Cruise In for the "Top Rods of Utah" Only 15 vehicles inside the arena, 1,000 vehicles outside and 18,000 spectators expected. Holy Shit! what an honor.
Cache Valley Cruise In-Top Rods of Utah You can see the "Goat Wagon" got invited 5 years ago the first time they did this and placed 3rd.

Love that red interior, looks comfy.
Pulled her out of the shop for a minute the other day while we had a small break in the weather, the Holley sniper still isn't right, I'm just going to have to buy another one now, I'll wait till after Autorama this weekend so we can pick up a summit coupon.

The truck looks GREAT! You've done a great job, and thanks for sharing the journey with us!
Awesome, sanitary and different.
Carry on.
Nolan
Beautiful! I've read some nightmares about Fitech too, it's a drag figuring out problems with this high tech stuff., expensive too.
Awesome work, it looks beautiful! I love the red interior and everything about the truck! What's the giant tail light sign on the wall of your shop? That definitely caught my eye. Sorry to hear about the sniper. I've had several friends have issues with them. I sold my dual quad fitech because I figured it would be a PITA too.
This stuff is taking forever in between our day jobs and living life.
Just need to wax the cab forward then we can start putting the chrome on.
Dust magnet for sure.

So we're still out here fighting with sniper issues, might be sending it back to summit soon.
But at least it looks good?

Gorgeous! That sucks you're having FI issues, but it seems there's always bugs to work out no matter how hard you try to make it perfect.
I agree. It's a beautiful truck. And a shame the FI isn't as plug and play as they make them out to be.
I have followed your build from the beginning, and you've done a fantastic job on it!
I'm posting because I also have a Holley EFI (mine's a Dominator) on my Car (I'm in Utah also), and had a few tuning issues in the beginning-after a bunch of looking at options, I found a remote Tuner who specializes in Holley EFI's and has a very good reputation (his pricing is reasonable too)- he remote tuned my Car (it's a screamer now, and he will help with problems if needed)-
He is on the Holley EFI Group on Facebook, and goes by Los Vasquez-his phone # is 561-644-0896, and he is super nice/helpful-he can help with any Holley product-
Closer to Home, Brock Lesner at Absolute Performance in West Jordan is a Holley EFI Dealer/Tuner (and has a Chassis Dyno), but I had a few issues getting an appointment with him-hope this helps, and I look forward to seeing your Truck in person at local Shows!
Thank you, I appreciate the info, we are hopefully fixing it right now so I have my fingers crossed we don't need to do that just yet. I hope we get to start sharing it soon, I'm ready to be away from the shop, having fun and socializing, we haven't committed to anything yet except Cache Valley, just need it to be right. When we drove it the other day, everything felt pretty good except the sniper issues.
Kind of a run down.
Bought first sniper early in the build back in 2016, by the time we even got to firing it up recently it had not been tested, ended up having a bad driver (as they tell us) giving us a bad 35.6 02 reading from the first fire up and every one after. So at this point I am out of any warranty, I would have pay to have Holley fix it and wait 4-6 weeks, so to get this thing on the road I just purchased another sniper and we swapped them out, also not realizing the sniper 2 would just take a little extra work to put on.
So we get the replacement on and it has 02 readings but they are all over the place and it kept shutting itself down (Red screening/no data). Of course we have data logged and documented what we did on every change and sent to Holley techs, phone calls etc. I ended up calling Summit the other day, they was cool and are letting me send that Sniper 1 back and I just payed the difference.
So here we are today. You can see the changed injector locations and ECU location, also took off the fuel pressure regulator.
Attachment 75935
Attachment 75936
So we have to redo some fuel line stuff and mount a fuel pressure regulator, building a bracket for that, we already pulled the touch screen and replaced with the new one, we're going to modify the throttle cable bracket, it comes with a plug that allows us to plug into the sniper 1 wiring. We are also going to relay the pink wire. Still waiting on AN fittings and some hose to show up, if we get that tomorrow I don't see why we can't have it all back together.
Attachment 75937
Third times a charm?
Sounds like you're on the right track-I had an issue with the Bosch 02 Sensors (readings all over.too), changed them over to the NTK and it straightened right out-
The original Sniper had a kind of dubious reputation, however from what I've heard the Sniper 2 has been a good unit-Hope it goes well for you-
That's a problem with builds that take years, pretty much everything you buy is out of warranty by the time you run it. I was pretty worried about my rebuilt trans I bought, kind of scary not knowing if it will work or not. Fortunately seems Ok other than a slightly harsh 1-2. Hope you have it licked this time.
Everything got swapped over, had to build a bracket for the fuel pressure regulator, modify the throttle cable bracket, rebuild some fuel lines, pull the screen wiring and mount the new one. So far so good, we are getting normal readings on everything, we still have a some engine noises we need to diagnose, I hope it's nothing like a collapsed lifter.

Hard to say how long before we experience problems with the sniper 2.
Now that we are getting better results with the Sniper 2 we have been running it and trying to pinpoint what our engine noise is that has been there since the beginning, triple checked valve lash.

Already had to put a little fuel back in.

Unfortunately I think we have a collapsed lifter, we are getting an oil analysis done to make sure we aren't having any bearing issues. I guess comp cams lifters are garbage. I hope it's just a matter of changing lifters out but I guess we'll see. Really sucks though.
Here is probably around 80% throttle.
https://youtu.be/scCfRjeoSvk?si=jzdZkLlb4zFaXRjQ
I won't agree or disagree on your opinion of comp cams, but when I put a new cam in the 350 in my 76 Vette I went with Howard's and have not been disappointed. With the junk coming out of China these days I went with an old time cam grinder and would do so again. Good luck, though if one went bad I'd consider replacing all of them, Just my2$
I wonder if air could be trapped in there, maybe more run time would purge it out.
We did end up finding part of the problem, we did not put O-rings on the distributor shaft which was sending oil up the shaft instead of sending it to the lifters, adding O-rings quieted it down but we still have what sounds like a lifter tick. Might just keep moving forward and get some more driving on it, maybe it'll fix itself, also keep trying to identify where and why.
I took it out for a bit and it's exciting to drive.
Still hearing what sounds like lifter tick yet everything seems to be functioning properly, moving forward, hope it'll clear itself up. Gonna try and hit Idaho next weekend for its first show.

Alignment done.
Attachment 75956
Also found another clearance issue.
Attachment 75957
Not sure what we're gonna do here, the other side dragged on the bed panel but didn't get hung up like the driver side.
Attachment 75958
U know a lot of folks use a stethoscope to isolate noises, but I prefer the old tried and true 3 or so feet of wooden broomstick. Over the years I've found a few odd noises that way.
Engine stuff might just be how it sounds, got some good alone time in yesterday out on a few trips around town, it rides really well after dialing in the coilovers. We'll get her loaded up in the trailer and hit Malad on Saturday. Roy on Sunday.
