Other choices ===C4 corvette(92-96), Lincoln, T bird Cougar with IRS, Ford expedition(IIRC) latr Mustang Cobra with IRS,
New Camaro , possibly Viper$$$$$
As the cars became lower ( mid/late 30s) and more rear seat usage, the floor board areas drive line tunnels were manufactured closer to drive line components not leaving much room for the upper bars from a much larger rear (9in Ford , Dana 60,etc) compared to the old narrow torque tube center pinion banjo rears

I'm going to pass on the rear IRS. I have created enough work for myself on this thing.

I found some other wheels that may look good on here and period correct and they aren't priced bad at all. $980 powder coated for a set of 4.

I had some money saved up from selling things I had laying it around and I was going to go gang busters buying things for this car. But then reality set in and I decided I had better finish my 72 so I can drive it when my daily driver craps out. But, I should be able to recoop and still work on the 40 before summer.Ryan

Are you considering the 18" or 20". Good that there are different center selections too. Nice selection of whitewall tires, is that a possibility?

I forgot to add about the white walls, I doubt I'll go white walls. I still am not sold on the steel wheels yet either. I'd really like to see a photoshop of a black 40 with them on it and low to the ground. My big problem is, I like shiny things. So I like to see a visualization before I commit. HahaRyan

I was thinking 18" in front and 20" in the rear. I probably can't do much until I get the body back on the frame and put fenders on and do some measuring so everything is right. I also have to see what tires will fit as well. I've changed so much on this thing I have no base line anymore.

Hey Ryan, are you still planning to paint the car satin black? What color on the wheels? I think will look pretty cool. Dang, I gotta get back on my '37! I keep getting sidetracked on my truck.....

Yes I am. I think it's the only feasible option to be able to still do body mods and repair but keep it drivable. If I get it that far this year. If I go with the steel wheels, I thought about having them powder coated chrome? Or a metallic blue as I'm thinking white silver and blue flames this time around.
I currently have my 871 on ebay so I can recoop more money to buy other parts. My goal is to get my 72 drivable. I should be able to buy some parts soon for the 40 if I keep on my selling spree.

Here's another. It has 17's & 18's but I think the tires are too small, especially on rear. I'm also not crazy about these wheels but I'm just throwing stuff out there for ya.....1940 Ford Tudor Sedan Gets Custom Treatment [Video]"It is not much good thinking of a thing unless you think it out." - H.G.
