I've got triangulated in my coupe.. Love it too!

And I also run the polished Salt Flats from AR..

I can't find anything to complain about on my end.. Go for it.

Thanks 34_40. I've seen a lot of kits for 33-35s, but not many for 36-40. I have found a decent kit though I think.

I agree, my '33 has a triangulated four link and like Mike I have no complaints. If I do another car it will have the same setup as this one. There's just no disadvantage to it, from my perspective.

Some chassis/frames aren't readily compatable with mounting the upper links---might be more related to under floor area of a back seat, but the 2 seater rigs seem to have more room there-

an alternative could be a irs from several of the later series of suvs, etc-------

I'll have to check my floor for clearance and see what it looks like. Thanks for the input guys. That's what I love about this forum.

If you think about going IRS look at an XJ6 Jag. In fact, for your '40 picking up a trashed out XJ6 and parting the IRS and IFS would be sweet!! Tech talks about that swap from time to time.

Other choices ===C4 corvette(92-96), Lincoln, T bird Cougar with IRS, Ford expedition(IIRC) latr Mustang Cobra with IRS,
    New Camaro , possibly Viper$$$$$

As the cars became lower ( mid/late 30s) and more rear seat usage, the floor board areas drive line tunnels were manufactured closer to drive line components not leaving much room for the upper bars from a much larger rear (9in Ford , Dana 60,etc) compared to the old narrow torque tube center pinion banjo rears

I'm going to pass on the rear IRS. I have created enough work for myself on this thing.

I found some other wheels that may look good on here and period correct and they aren't priced bad at all. $980 powder coated for a set of 4.

Latest News - Detroit Steel Wheel Co.

I had some money saved up from selling things I had laying it around and I was going to go gang busters buying things for this car. But then reality set in and I decided I had better finish my 72 so I can drive it when my daily driver craps out. But, I should be able to recoop and still work on the 40 before summer.

Are you considering the 18" or 20". Good that there are different center selections too. Nice selection of whitewall tires, is that a possibility?

I was thinking 18" in front and 20" in the rear. I probably can't do much until I get the body back on the frame and put fenders on and do some measuring so everything is right. I also have to see what tires will fit as well. I've changed so much on this thing I have no base line anymore.

Hey Ryan, are you still planning to paint the car satin black? What color on the wheels? I think will look pretty cool. Dang, I gotta get back on my '37! I keep getting sidetracked on my truck.....

I forgot to add about the white walls, I doubt I'll go white walls. I still am not sold on the steel wheels yet either. I'd really like to see a photoshop of a black 40 with them on it and low to the ground. My big problem is, I like shiny things. So I like to see a visualization before I commit. Haha
