Don't get real excited, there's no progress been made yet.
However, I did decide to use the steering column from my 72 Chevy in the 40, and I almost made an engine change. I have the chance to buy a good running 69 396 and a TH400 that needs rebuilt. I thought about sticking them in the 40 so I could get the car running easier. Then I decided I was a durn fool and needed to just finish out the 354 swap.
Hopefully in a few weeks I can drag the car out of the trailer and start on it again.

HEMI has the same meaning as a boat. Break Out Another Thousand.

Ain't that the truth.......however I'm finding that other lower production (read big inch Caddy, Buick, Olds or Pontiac), or 50-60 year old engines (read small journal Small block like the current 283 project) are not real nice to the bank account either.

I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

Mike, you're so right. We've been buying up parts for my Dad's 68 Buick GS400. Buick parts will get ya too. Go figure

Since I'm going to have the frame out from under the body on this thing, I've decided to do away with the rear leaf springs and go with a triangulated 4 link system. Are there any disadvantages to this? I was going to go with normal 4 link, but with triangulated you don't need a track/panhard bar which should free up room for exhaust fitment and such. I think I've really fallen in love with the salt flat type wheel like posted above. I'm leaning towards fully polished, but we shall see. I have to get the frame work done and set the body back on so I can figure out what I can run wheel and tire size wise.Ryan

I've got triangulated in my coupe.. Love it too!
And I also run the polished Salt Flats from AR..
I can't find anything to complain about on my end.. Go for it.

Thanks 34_40. I've seen a lot of kits for 33-35s, but not many for 36-40. I have found a decent kit though I think.

I agree, my '33 has a triangulated four link and like Mike I have no complaints. If I do another car it will have the same setup as this one. There's just no disadvantage to it, from my perspective.Roger

Some chassis/frames aren't readily compatable with mounting the upper links---might be more related to under floor area of a back seat, but the 2 seater rigs seem to have more room there-
an alternative could be a irs from several of the later series of suvs, etc-------
