Well, Obama was elected into office to fix those issues. Instead, he's dumped billions into other things he was told would fail. Solyndra, Think City and the Stimulus to name a few, but these things kept people thinking he was doing something good at the time he did them. Now, if he applied those billions back into paying off the deficit, then we would be better off now than before. Rather than do that, he decided to raise the debt cap and keep on spending.. Obama understands people want handouts, free healthcare and a job that they have to do as little at to get a good paycheck. What he doesn't understand is that the Government cannot afford to fund these programs. So, we can re-elect a guy that we know will keep the debt climbing, or we can elect a guy that we know can make money and likely reverse the deficit. He may not be the most likeable person, but you don't have to be likable to be successful. Many people hated Clintons guts, but he knew how to balance a budget. Even if Romney only got 4 years, it would be enough to improve the goverments money problem.. 16 Trillion in debt, the goverment is bankrupt, if a company goes bankrupt ( files chapter 11 ), they downsize and restructure. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

Downsizing is a concept that politicians won't talk about. Obama should have instituted a hiring freeze on all federal government positions as soon as he sat down in the Oval Office for the first time. With a freeze on, natural attrition would begin thinning the bloated ranks of federal employees, which has grown by 3.5% since January 2008. Please don't argue with the figure presented here, I'm trying to make the point that federal positions should have thinned since January 2008, not fattened. If the number grew by 1/10th of 1%, it would still be too many. Entire Departments need to be disbanded. I understand that even doing away with the entire federal workforce wouldn't save the country, but shouldn't we at least make an effort?

I do remember that upon entering office, Obama began doing away with social programs that were pushing the debt up. I thought to myself, hey, maybe this guy will be ok. Then, as quickly as he began, he stopped and I have not heard another word about downsizing government-funded programs.

As I have said before on political threads such as this one, we're done. Keeping to the present, unsustainable course and speed, the good ship USA will hit an iceberg and sink and there's just no other way to see it. If history repeats, we will then suffer a revolution and re-form into a dictatorship.
