what does one do with stinky old gas .. i dont mean the kind you get from eating too many bean burritto`s .. it seems the last time my " new " pinto was driven the owner filled the tank .. it`s 8 year old gas and wont run more than a minute ..with any luck the full tank kept my tank from rusting up .. i`ve not got any trash or rust in the fuel filter ..but as i say .. what to do with 15 gallons of old varnish .. i mean gas ...
Good for killing grass though the EPA might frown on that.
You used to be able to add almost pure alcohol to it, which would absorbe the water and allow you to burn it off by running it. Nowdays it's hard to find. I bought the cheapest large gas cans I could find, and then took it to the garbage recycler on toxic clean up day. Some people use it to help start their brush piles on burn days(during the winter). I still have a five gallon container of bad gas from the tank that came with my truck! It is a pain finding anyone who will recyclie it these days. Now in my grandma's time, they just poured it into the ground without a thought! More of a problem today!
Funny thing is,,that in this day and age,the unleaded gas we now have,is more toxic to us humans than the leaded fuel was..My late father used to wash engine parts, siphon by mouth,(and would end up with it in his mouth, sometimes),,wash his hands in it,etc,,as I'm sure a lot of others did..He passed 8 days before his 90th birthday(gave up smoking at 88)..And,if I'm correct,,one of the reasons leaded fuel was banned, was for health reasons...Hmmm..:HMMM::HMMM:.Convince me,,,,are all the carcinogenic properties of today's petrol better for your health??:confused:Dont think so...
Hey,Hoss.....dump it on ya grass, where you dont want grass to grow...hehe..
Why not add a gallon ( or two) to the daily driver and then top it off with fresh gas? That's how I get rid of old gas. Works good.
When I started working at Exide, making lead acid batteries, I learned a few things about lead, and my blood was drawn monthly to check for lead.
I can't remember the numbers exactly, but when leaded fuel was phased out, the average blood lead for Americans was significantly higher than it is now.
winter storage ... i know i hate it .. i did get the pinto out last week and make a run up to shelbyville tenn .. i love that drive up 231 .. turns so sharp you can see your on rear bumper ...
Cool pics. Except the bottom one! LOL.. First gen pinto's make a good looking hot rod.
kinda neat .. at work we have an albino squirrel .. it lives in a hole in our building ..with all the hawks that stay in the area it`s a wonder it made it to adulthood ...
Pretty cool! We have Fallow Deer(all white from England) at our local Point Reyes Nt. Seashore. I often wonder how they do with predators as well.:HMMM:
been walking by this beast for several years down at the creek and he`d always fly off when he spotted me .. but it seems he`s grown acustomed to seeing me as lately he stays put ..
That looks like a Great Blue Heron.:( Lost a lot of fish from my pond by these guys.:mad:
Jack.
No, that looks more like a stork......... you better be careful
Ha ha.. That would be funny. The stork making a delivery to old Hoss.
More like April fools day than Happy New Year..........
i have had that scare a few times this past year  . i was known as HOSS for another reason long before i got a mustang ;)
Gotta wear a ten gallon hat.
breaking news ... john force racing to run a top fueler this year ... a ford powered top fueler no less .. he was the reason i had a little bit of interest in funny car and i had not much interest in top fuel at all cept when clay milican made an event .. i think clay used to run for a fellow from alabama so i kinda follow him a bit ...only 34 days till the season starts ..
Did it say which of his daughters would drive it? His Mustangs have been running the ford for 2 years now.
Courtney ran the super gas rail for 3 or 4 years in anticipation of daddy going into top fuel. When Ashley got pregnant and bowed out from racing, I guess they just juggled what they had.

Did you know that "experts" built the Titanic, but amateurs built the Ark?????

buddy of mine recently sold this car and a 70 429 wedge stang in order to buy a 13 shelby .. i dont know if i`d have let them go even though the shelby is a super car ...
Hard to know the best ,sometimes,Hoss..That 69 looks real kool,,but, maybe,he's like my friend down the road from me..He has a 69,and a very nice one, too,,a stocker,,but last year, bought a 2001 Shelby, with about 40,000 miles on it,,very nice car,,and now he might sell the 69.cos someone wants it,and probably will pay the asking price.. ($50,000 NZ)..I think he is looking at another late model Mustang,,cos the Shelby is his wife's car..:D:D Different strokes..............
I'm with you Hoss those old classics just speak to me!
I've always been partial to the '65-'67 Fastbacks. Went to look at a '65 not too long back, but it was a project car that had been badly painted and the guy wanted to get his invested $$$ back, and I wasn't willing to pay double value for a pig in a poke. I'll likely continue to admire them from a distance.
Yeh Roger around here they go for a premium. People go online and look at the most expensive one they can find, and feel their diamond in the ruff in worth every penny of that price, not realizing the one they saw go for 50k on ebay, had 80k in it and the owner was losing 30k. Craigslist can be the same way. I feel real lucky these days when I find a older item and pay what it is worth or slightly less, instead of the the mint condition new fully restored price.
people ask me all the time what i would take for my old wreck and i cant really come up with a price .. i know it would take 30 grand to replace it but no way could i ask that for mine .. yet i cant give it away either for the 8 or 10 grand that i see rust buckets commanding on ebay .. and thirdly i dont want to get rid of it so come offer me 50 grand .... HA !!!!
That's just it Hoss it's worth more to you! I get that completely. Some things just have personal intrinsic value to us, that others can't see or won't pay. Thus our passion for cars!
this is a story .. all of it true
bout a race tween a cobra .. and a four forty two
the cobra was sudden .. with it`s 4 speed stick
but the olds was no slouch .. it was pretty darn quick
i was there when they met .. on buddy williamson street
the cobra took the first race .. by a couple of feet
the olds came back strong .. and was given the nod
when the 429 came apart .. and slung a rod ..
this is the end .and they`re aint been no more
the cobra`s been sitiing .. since 1984 ...
Sad sight indeed Hoss!
Very sad sight..Hope it hasnt rotted out in the floors..:(:(
Ain't those as rare as hen teeth ???? Parked up because of a broken engine..... heck , I would of had it fixed long ago...... there should be laws about this nonsense ..... this is more important then gun laws eh....
