ok so Im going to scrap the holly. I have a quadrajet that I got out of a 69 chevell that had a 454 that A friend lent me an I am going to try out. I found out having the carb on backwards makes no difrence. so Im going to try this carb an if it works he'll trade me even. Im working on rerouting the exhaust out the side of the car thru the quarter panels. pretty much straight pipes Im either gonna use some super trapp muffler tips or two mini mufflers. just to get rid of the popping sound from back firing from the straight pipes. todays been a good day. fix my plow an got it hooked up to the suzuki samurai an got a soft top for it so im not running around in a bikini top. the winters are cold in maine an it is snow already. so its been a successfull weekend. cant wait to get this carb on here an see what happens.

you may wanna re think this, the torker doesnt accept the q-jet style bolt pattern. however there are square-bore to spread-bore adapter plates you can pickup for10-20 bucks, i have one floating around here somewhere your welcome to it if ya need/want it. then you would be able to mount it backwards. but on a q-jet intake the q-jet would only go one way.

Hey thanks for the heads up. I'll just buy one from my local parts store. Would the adaptor plate affect anything like power or what not?I thought that the quadra jet an the edelebrock carbs shared the same bolt patterns.

no q-jet and holley spread bore have their own unique pattern. a spreadbore if the best of both worlds you can tune it like a holley buy get gas mpg of a q-jet

all spread bore carbs will bolt to a spread bore intake holley .carter .Qjet and you can put the carb facing what ever way it will bolt on the intake the carb will not know wich way it runs down the road the floats may work one way better then another under hard use . but it will work

Alright folks, I got this thing running like a top. unfortunetly I dont own the carb that im using but I do know that a dif carb will work wonders. I dont know what the big difrence is but a friend of mine is letting me use his holley 850 single feed dual bowl spread bore carb. he said it came off his olds cuttless 455. An this thing shits n gitts. it sucks its winter here in maine but this thing is balls to the walls. I cant even imagine what this would be like with a set of the aluminum heads makin another 100 hp. this thing is crazy. I am so happy i cant even express it. thank you to everyone on here for there ideas. they were all 100 % helpfull. No more flat dead spot. an its weird but it doesnt seem like its dumping as much fuel as the 750 was. It is a totally difrent car. I just need to find my own carb now LOL. so thank you all very much.

Good to hear. Now it's time to enjoy it, while gas is still under 3 bucks a gallon.

ok so I foweled the plugs But thats not a bad thing they were probably fowled from the 750 DP. The new carb just finished them off. Good news I found the same exact carb that I have on the motor now on craigslist an bought if for 53.00 shipped to me. It should be here with in a week. I am so happy. I will get the other carb rebuilt an installed an I will be ready to rock an roll. Im going to change the plugs too. LOL apparently they need it.

Ok this just doesnt end. So after a breif an i mean breif bit of hope. the car is running like shit again. Heres the deal. the other day when it was running great. I had the headers dumped an just a set of 90 degree pipes on it so when i drove down the road air didnt shoot up the headers an it ran like a dream. today I get all excited an what not hook up the exhaust that i had which was a two in to one high flow muffler an the pipe'n is 3 inch front to back. an the car barley runs at all. at first I thought I just fouled the plugs. so I take them all out an there black an soaked with fuel so i buy new ones put them in an now all of a sudden. the car still runs like shit. Im going to dump the headers again tomorrow. seems like when it was just open headers it was running awsome. now The car wont even move. an it was running so great. im so aggrivated. I litterally changed nothing about the car except puttign the exhaust back on. Not to mention I droped 3 gallons of gas in a half our period trying to tune the dame thing. an still no luck im out of gas how do you go thrue 3 gallons of gas in a half our with the car maybe running for 10 minutes out of that half hour. my dame samuria runns a whole week on 3%$#@@#$^ gallons. Im so frustrated now. I wish everyone could feel my pain. damit damit damit.

I was wondering the same thing Pat. You better check that oil hate hearing those big booms! that come with a gas filled crank case. When you had the other carb on your motor was your exhaust hooked up?
I've had motors that had lots of compression that could not breath because the the exhaust manifolds would not flow enough. The car ran fine with them off but when I put them on the car ran like crap, so I had to go with headers and some good high flow mufflers.
