Nicely done, Gary. I, too, like the color choice. I am anxiously awaiting your future posts.

The last two days I got the clear coat all scuffed up with 400 wet sandpaper and painted the stripes on car. Suppose to be cold tomorrow but back in the mid 70's by Saturday so looks like final 3 coats of clear will go on then.

final three coats of clear went on the 32 today. will let it dry a few days then sand and buff to a mirror finish. hope to mount the body on chassis and start final assembly next week. As soon as this one is done I have a new 34 Ford 3 window coupe body by N&N waiting in the wings which will be built into a 60's style gasser if it isn't sold to a customer real soon. Photos of 32 in my super low tech paint booth and antique spray equipment but it gets the job done just fine.

But as long as you use the correct breathing helmet and coveralls is more important to ones health then the gun or booth one uses. The Chemicals in some of those paints and clears can kill a person and it might not show up in your system for a while but when it does, there is no fix. The Coupe is looking awesome though and I do like that deep rich blue with the pin stripes.

I agree with Dave the stripes really give it an older classic hot rod look. Paint looks great, not to mention the garage, you must be good at avoiding overspray!

Awesome work! The stripes really add to it and help set it off.

this week I wet sanded the final clear coat down with 600 then 1000 grit to remove all orange peel and prepare for buffing. Let the paint dry a couple more days then buffed twice today with standard buffing compound and it shines perfectly but will go on with another buffing or two with polishing compound tomorrow, then buff with swirl remover then final rubbing with Meguiars #7 . Body should go back on chassis Monday morning and get to the fun stuff of final assembly, wiring and plumbing.

Body went back on for final time yesterday after a long week and then long weekend of sanding and polishing the paint. sanded all parts with 600 grit first to sand all orange peel out and get a perfectly mirror smooth surface then back over everythling with 1000 grit to lessen sand scratches. Let paint stand 2 days to make sure thinner has all evaporated out of paint and let paint harden just a little longer. sometimes sand with 2000 and 3000 after that but on this one stopped at 1000. then buffed everything twice with buffing compound. cleaned car up and rebuffed everything with polishing compound. cleaned again and rebuffed everything with swirl remover. then hand applied Meguiars #7 for a show car finish. Probably spent 40 to 50 hours on it last week but sure worth it when it is all done. Now on to the fun stuff of wiring, plumbing and final assembly!!!

Lookin' good, and really like the color! I think you did exactly right to go from 1000 grit to polishing compound. It looks great!!

I'm anxious to see all the body panels on this one. It's shaping up to be a great build. Paint work is just super!
