Looks like you've got he trunk pin figured out. My concern was that from full open a sharp downward snap will tend to throw the pin away from the hinge point, flipping it toward the rear of the car against gravity. Your explanation that a strategic weld "stop" can limit travel makes perfect sense. Thanks for the idea.
