One thing to remember is the stock 400 crank uses a 2.65 main and the 305/350 uses a 2.45 main.
After-market cranks are available in both main sizes.

or u can use a stock 400 crank(3.75) and have the main machined down to fit the 305 block

Yes,you can have the mains turned down.
But why when you can buy a new crank for less than $250.
