thats the oil cooler by-pass valve, cant see that being the problem. the down shift timing valve is in the pump also. dont belive either one would keep it from pulling at all. might be the reason you dont have fluid at the cooler. the pump will by-pass that valve, but you trans might run hot. 6 cyl. (yrs. ago) didnt use a cooler, so when you plugged the cooler lines the cooler-by- pass valve would take over. i think the big oil rings are missing or broke on the stator pump, if the pump and conv. are ok.Originally posted by BLOWN 502 MONTE
No, its in the pump body, on top. its spring loaded, i was told if the pin lets go it will drop all the oil pressure. well the pin looked really bad so i was advised to kknock the pin out and tap the bore and pipe plug it, i thought it was the pump priming valve...could be wrong on that one
if you pull the pump back out you need to make sure that valve is free. i really dont know what it would do if it was to tight. never seen a bad one.Last edited by lt1s10; 08-13-2005 at 07:16 PM.
