Same here; cheap is good. I got it off of Amazon; here's the link.

I got Hush Mat for mine, I don't have near as much area to cover but good grief , I didn't want to buy it all at one time either $$$
Several things done this week; I finished insulating the floor. the guy that was sandblasting my seat springs once again put me off a couple more weeks. I finally said the heck with it, picked them up and just sprayed them with POR-15 after wire brushing off the rusty spots. I was looking at my air cleaner and was worried that even with the dual snorkels, it wouldn't get great airflow. So I saw this idea on a factory Ford high flow air cleaner. Should be much better now. All my upholstery stuff is here except for the headliner, which is another week out. As soon as it gets here we'll start putting stuff together.
Looks like your rolling. Seat springs would be awful to blast. I did a bunch of trim today and those little pieces take forever. That POR-15 is great stuff, ever tried to sand it off  ? I just found out my neighbor is doing a 47 like yours, he has a nice body to start with but it looks like he is about 15 yrs from done
Very nice progress. I really like the steering wheel (but hey it’s the same one I’m using on my 37 so I might be a bit prejudice) the “Plymouth” in the horn button is a really nice touch.
.
Finished up my air cleaner and the rest of my upholstery supplies came in so here goes nothing. I got the windlace on and just hung the headliner on the bows. It's been folded up in a box so from what I've read you should leave it like this for a few days and let it relax before you start attaching anything. I also have been having a major carburetor battle. I bought a factory rebuilt Street Demon 1900 carb to replace the old Holley 4160 I had on for a temporary. I fought this thing to no end trying to get it to run right, even called their tech line and had them send me some documentation on how to do all the initial set up adjustments but it kept flooding constantly and ran like crap. :mad:I finally said the heck with it and threw some rebuild parts in the the old Holley and threw it back on. Starts as soon as you hit the key and runs like a champ. Go figure.
nice job, it's really coming together
Your air cleaner turned out awesome, and interior is looking great!
Thanks! Got the headliner and carpet in over the last week; will be starting on door panels shortly. Headliner came out OK; this is the second one I've done and it's looks better than the first but still a few wrinkled areas I had a hard time working out. For the price, I can live with it.
Looks real good to me and came out as well as the one I put the 66 Mustang I gave my grandson.
Especially with the visors in you're probably the only one who will ever notice it.
.
Look's great! Head liners are a pain!
Rich
Looks great!
Lookin Spiff!
Is the headliner vinyl or cloth?
It looks vinyl in your photographs.
But if it's cloth you can shrink wrinkles out by spraying them lightly with water.
Some of the wrinkles will go away the first time it's baked in the sun.
It's vinyl. It actually looks like it's shrunk a little and tightened up in a few spots over the last few days.
I've seen guys spray water on vinyl and then heat it with a heat gun to get the wrinkles out. It looks really nice though. I've put one in and I never thought it was going to look decent. It was a good learning experience. Haha
Does the place you got your carpet from make it for other years? Forgive me if you made it. I can't remember if you did or not.
Yeah, they do. It was really reasonably priced, fit well, and looks to be pretty well made. Here's where I got it:
Auto Carpet for Car, Truck, Van - Stock Interiors
Dang it. It looks like they only do 41 and up.
Boil the kettle and then hold it up under where the creases are and allow the steam from the pourer gentle warm the vinyl. That is how most auto upholsterers do it when I have watched them. It is looking good though and you have accomplished a nice job on fitting the trim.
Bumpers on! I'm off work all this week and am planning an all out blitz to get as much as I can wrapped up and start road testing.
Those bumpers really cap it off don't they??!?!? Exciting to hear you're coming down the home stretch as it were.
Those bumpers look great!!
.
Ditto nice classic look and finishing touch
I second or third that, the bumpers look amazing. I had a nasty thought looking at the pictures, I hope you are not selling this one so soon after finishing it ? I can't explain why that thought jumped into my thick head.
Car looks great. Doesn't look like you have much left before driving.
Are those Briz bumpers? I came to this thread late. You may have already said where they came from.
Thanks, they are Briz bumpers. This one won't get sold, it was a gift from a good friend with the stipulation that I finish it and not sell it. The guy is retired and was a member of my church, the car was a gift from his grandpa for his 16th birthday. He drove it all through high school and college and his kids drove it, too. He started to restore it but never got past disassembly and when he retired from being a union electrician, him and his wife decided to sell their home and buy a small place. He didn't have a place for the car and hadn't touched it in twenty years. He found out I was a car guy and asked me if he were to give me the car, would I promise to get it back on the road and keep it? As soon as it's on the road, I'm taking it to his house for a visit. He never has come to see it, he wanted to wait until it was done.
You know pictures from that encounter will be a must. Bravo, not too many people would take on something like that.
Great story.
Maybe you could get a car mag journalist to cover the story when you show your work to the donor.
Very cool that you are doing a promise> What a gift for him to know it's running and driving.
Time to up date the Avatar with the added bumper!
just goes to show that car guys are good people. Car looks great and previous owner will be very pleased to see how well it turned out.
Yeah, he's a good dude. He changed churches to go where his kids go and I haven't seen him in a few years. But I know where he lives and plan on showing up on his doorstep in a few weeks.
Got a 48 Plymouth myself. I've had it a little over a year now but haven't done much to it. Don't really have the funding to finish it the way I want. It has a Chevy 350 with HD350 tranny, body is in really good shape, door handles have been shaved and rear tail lights set in. Red and black tuck and roll interior. It was going to be my cruiser. Thinking seriously about selling it.http://www.clubhotrod.com/photopost/...mbs/image.jpeg
Didn't get as far as I hoped this week but it's getting close. I was having a lot of trouble getting the foam carved into the shape I wanted for the front seats so I put those aside for now and bought these buckets off of Ebay. May finish the others up later and keep these for something else. I was getting frustrated and decided to just let someone else do them but the local upholstery shops said they were 2-3 months out because everyone wants their cars done at the beginning of spring. The back is coming much better; hopefully I'll have it done this week or next. Back door panels and kick panels are done along with a mile long miscellaneous list. I spent five days doing 10-12 hour days on it and have to be at work Monday so I'm taking a couple days breather.
It is looking so nice. I like those seats. Are they procars by chance?
