Whats the deal with silicon and wd-40???

i think it just hangs in the air for a long time. i work at a body shop and next to it was a mag and alum casting foundry they had something over there oil fired? and if the wind was blowing just right you could smell it like hot sand and oil smell . i would get very small pin fish eyes in the finsh the only time i would get any was when they fired them up and the wind was blowing just right
