Not concerned about the body work and paint just yet, I still have some other things going on. I am more worried about getting the new motor broke in and really seeing of the cooling problems are really cured. I am very paraniod after last summer.
Then I think I am going to have the hood louvered and get the door soleniods installed. Power windows are also in the immediate future too.
Oh heck, I thought you were done!!! Well heck, get back to work!!!!!! How many louvers???? I always go through one band aid for every two louvers by the time I get paint on the car!!!!! Many years ago I did a '47 Lincoln for a guy, 150 louvers on the hood, 70 on the deck lid!!! Needed a pint of blood by the time I got everything sanded!!!!!:LOL: :LOL:
The fresh engine and new radiator should certainly take care of the cooling... Have fun and let us know.

I did a test peice of aluminum today with clear POR15. Looks good now, but the can says not recomended on polished surfaces. So.....??

When you get to the site, click on Hot Rod Parts" under the drawing of the roadster. Then click on "Gibbs Brand Penetrating oil" under "More Neat Stuff" It will open a link telling you all about this stuff. My understanding is that it can also be painted over with no problems, like other products.
Just thought I should throw this one out there in case it had some application for any of you.

Zoop seal works great on wheels,it should work great on any aluminum suface. It requires some maintinance. Most coatings do not stick to aluminum for very long(anodize is the answer to lasting protection).
Ok So some more minor progress this week. Here's my butchered/almost fixed dash

I also removed the upper cowl panel and windshield and found :eek: a Rat Rod Trick :eek:
Anybody need a piece of an old rail road crossing sign? The new upper dash panel is on the way, so I won't need this anymore. :D
And finally, I started investigating the rear quarter panel to figure out exactly how much I should cut out for the new one.
I also ordered the 400 Hood, both front fenders and a door skin for the passenger's side, so those should arrive pretty soon. Anyway, it shouldn't be to long before we get the uni-body up on the rotissery and really dig into it.
That's some good progress, now to get the panels replaced. Are you going to weld them or glue them???? I'd save the railroad sign to thump the guy who put it in there on the head!!!!!

The new qtr will be welded in. I wasn't real impressed with the upper lip of the re-production qtr though. (I know, I know, what else is new?) Anyway, it wasn't near as defined as the original body line, so just cut a piece out of the new qtr and then trace it on to the existing qtr, and then cut the original qtr below the body line and "inside" the trace line. Then, trim it to fit the replacement, tack the new qtr, get it to fit right and then finish the welds.
The wheel house will probably need to be replaced as well but there's already one sitting in the shop for just that purpose.
As for the rail road sign, maybe I'll build me a rat rod some day so I might need it. I think I will hold on to it. :3dSMILE:
I cheat and cut the existing quarter 1/2 " long then flange it and lay the new quarter on the flange, seems to help control the warpage a bit. I suppose the flange adds a little strenth or something.
It will be alot of work either way but worth it. Keep us posted firechicken.:D
