    2b.jpg3a.jpgStovens,

I love that truck. I admit I would rather have bigger tires at the rear, and the motorcycle tires would leave me a little concerned. There is like less than an inch contact patch on the road with those front tires. I'm hoping to figure out how he did the cantilever front. Air bags are between frame rails, with the cantilever pivoting off the bottom of the frame, and look like they attach somehow to where the shocks would normally be attached at the bottom of the axle. However, the cantilever look to be two 1/4" plates with lightening holes. Wonder if they tempered them? Doesnt seem like they would hold up to much side loading even with the panhard. It does look very interesting though. There are a couple of sites to see it. The one you found at Motortopia and one at Hubgarage. I cant remember if I'm allowed to add url's to the sites?

The 1rst picture I photo shopped a very cavemanish copy of a 36 cab with a section taken out of the cab and top chopped. lol

David I think it will look great. Nice photoshop moc up! The Gizmoness is a very cool lowrider! I usually don't like the tall low profile wheels and tires, but the polished solid wheels and rubber look fantastic on it! He really nailed it, and with the 36 body it looks spot on too!

I had a little ooops. I spun some bushing bungs on the lathe, welded them in & when I tested it the hinge came out of the rail. The pins were supposed to keep the hinge in the rail but there was just enough clearance for it to slip by.

So I made up these little clips to grab the pin a little better. Ended up making clips for both pins. That meant the linkage would no longer fit inside the rail, so I made some c-channel out of square tubing for the bottom. Holes are for junk & water drainage. I'll have to add one on the top too. At least the hinge locks in place solid now, in both open & closed positions.

Got a few more parts to make & they will be ready to weld back on. The 3/4'' pins are for alignment during welding, eventually they will be replaced with 3/4" nylon bushing stock & a 1/2" steel pin. Got some black corian® cut-offs from a counter top place. Cutting that on the CNC to fill in the gaps between the rails & the hinges, so there won't be any metal to metal contact. Nylon & corian® should allow the hinges to slide smooth.

I hope this deal goes a little better from here on out. Hate those glitches.

noob here looking for some outside advise. I'm in the 4th year of an all steel frame up of a 34 plymouth coupe. Here are the specs so far.
I boxed the frame put in a 1970 318 V8, Erson #E420121 Cam 1400-4800 RPM Range , 727 Auto Trans w/1800RPM stall speed, 83/4- 3.08 rear end gears. I would like some exhaust ideas, some tell me go with the X or H cross over some say no. What do think?
It looks like your post got left behind Gonso1. From what I read when I was building my car the X pipe is better then the H but the H is better then nothing. they give you better sound and performance. I am sure others here know more then I though.

Thanks guys, I'm really pleased with the upholstery too. Headliner matches perfect!!!! It does have seat belts, just have them behind it for now.

I've been friends with Jim, the guy who did the upholstery work, for lots of years. He's probably done 20+ cars for me and my customers.... However like many of us the years have taken their toll on him and he sez this is his last job.....going to just build his own cars and start kickin' back a bit and enjoying time with his grandkids and other really important stuff!!!!!! He does need help on a few of his projects, and I still need some seats done for my 'maro and the Ranchero....Hopefully his "retirement" isn't absolute!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks great Dave. I understand the slowing down deal. I'm gettin' close to that myself. Couple more years full bore & then start to coast.

I thought that maybe you guys would like to see a project that I just finished. I am doing a pair of 34 dodge trucks for a customer. This one is the old school truck sporting a 53 Dodge flathead with split exhaust and a pair of 97's. It also has a mild cam, a shaved head and has been ported.
Give me something to cut with, I'm going to build a Hotrod

Nicely Done! Any volkswagon powered projects currently? I still enjoy seeing your rear engine RPU.
