Here's a few shots from today; I've got the firewall painted and the inside pretty well stripped. Hopefully I can be shooting primer on the interior by next weekend. Rethinking the 318 idea, too. I think something bigger is in order.
Just picked this up; the deal kind of fell into my lap. Think an Olds 455 with a TH-400 will move an ice cream truck around?:D
Good score on the 455
Yeah, she knows. I told her I was taking her to dinner but just wanted to stop off and see about a part I needed that I found on Craigslist. ;) I didn't tell her it was a BIG part until we got there. She still loves me, though. I tore the motor down this morning and everything looks really good inside, just a quick re-ring, cam swap and valve job and I think it'll be ready to roll. It's the low compression 1976 model with the "J" series heads but that's OK. It's still a big block.
:hay falcon here's an idea paint it brown put some magnetic ups signs on it and the wife can use it for xmas shopping no parking problems just pull up out front turn on the 4 ways and shop till you drop......ted :LOL::LOL::LOL:
Are you kidding? Between my car parts and her internet shopping, there's a UPS truck in our driveway so much the neighbors think we own one already!:D
Here's a few recent shots; I got the motor tore down and everything looks pretty good. I think just a basic rering with a valvejob and aftermarket cam/headers/intake/carb and it'll be good to go. Also got about half the interior primerd, I'm working on the back half right now. I really haven't had to deal with too much rust, just several layers of paint. Looks like it was white, then yellow, and then light blue on the outside. The inside was grey, then purple, then someone painted it white with housepaint and a brush.Lots of sanding.
Sounds like the van had a real "colorful" past, Falcon!!!:LOL::LOL::LOL:
