Unless you have kids that you need to keep an eye on - a pool, IMHO, is one of the biggest money drains a homeowner can have. My last house I had a 17x35 in ground pool with all of the grief that went with it - covers(summer and winter), pumps, a concrete deck, toys, a raised and terraced wood deck, and more. The kids graduated from college and went to do their 'thing'. I might have been in it 6 times in 8 years. The pool was covered and not reopened for 3 years and then finally by the new owner. My son helped him reopen it (the new guy couldn't find me ) and the scum was about thick enough to walk over . Pool - this new house had an above ground pool and a condition of sale was that the seller remove it and make it disappear from my life
