Every “car person” has a reason being involved with the vehicles they own. For some it’s the love of building, for others it’s showing what they can afford, and there are the ones where it’s the current “thing” to do.
Regardless at almost any gathering every participant with a vehicle there ha a little bit of a look at me attitude. Usually the derogatory people I have run into are the ones who have recently bought into the hobby, some of the die hard purists (who in many cases look at their own cars as an investment more so than a source of enjoyment) or the clown whose only car is the beat up Toyota in the parking lot.
There are different levels of involvement for car people. Some are truly hobbyists while for others it is truly a life style.
For those that have it as a lifestyle (like MANY of the members here), we were the ones who were here before cars became a fad, and will carry the torch after the others have moved on to something else. Over 40 years I have seen interest in cars rise and fall a few times, the core group of hot-rodders are generally some good people, the rest just come and go.I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....
