The most valuable parts appear to be the wheels and the brakes. I think the rooftop a/c unit would work well for my shed too!

Thanks for that link! That is a cool story! When I was 17 I was throwing hay and working for a large farmer that was our neighbor. On one of his farms he purchased, it had a very large old wood barn like in the movie Days of Thunder. I had to clean all the old hay out of this barn and clean it out. He told me I could keep what ever was in there besides hay. You know what I found? A 69 Boss 302 nuzzled in the back corner of the barn. The hay was stacked almost against it from the floor to the ceiling. It was Blue and black, complete, and turned out to be really nice. The barn had concrete, and some how the mice/rodents didn't tear it up horribly. And guess what, I didn't get to keep it. It turned out to be owned by the son of the parents that owned the farm before. Their son never came back from Vietnam. Bob, my boss at the time, had us clean the car up inside and out. He got the title, took the car to an auto auction in Chicago, sold it and gave the money to the living mother to pay bills with. I heard a rumor that that car brought $15k and that was in 1998. I was mad not to get the car at the time, but that lady needed the financial help more that I needed a 69 Boss then. That's my best barn find story. Haha

about a year ago my pinto developed an intermittent miss .. would go a week running fine then would make me worry if i was gunna make it home ..felt like a spark plug wire breaking down .. new plug wires helped for a week . miss came back . then i noticed a lot of corrosion on the dizzy cap .. new dizzy cap fixed it for a week . miss came back ..then i found the coil was loose .. tightened the coil up .. fixed it for a week .. then i remembered i have had one of the original plugs still in the engine cause i could not get it out with the engine in the car ,, i cut up my fender-well and fashioned a special tool to remove the plug .. it was perfect already ..i was not going to go into the dizzy and start replacing parts cause that was just a guessing game for me .. so i ordered a brand new dizzy on evilbay . a week later it comes in .. the fine print tells me i MUST use the accompanying special coil ... dint say that when i ordered the dizzy ( distributor ) .. so another week of waiting and the coil arrives .. amazing the difference in performance and how well my pinto would start now .. cold starting was always a problem with this car .. it`s the reason i bought the toyota 6 years ago ... anywho i went along for about two weeks happily not worried about it failing on me till it struck again ..i barely made it home ...i had been running the other dizzy on the stock pinto ignition wire which most likely was not a full 12 volts due to it being a resistance wire for the first five years it ran and it was ok .. but i learned i needed to switch my hot feed to the ignition post on the solenoid so i did .. i wrapped a wire around the ignition post and went on my way ..then my missing started .. a year ago .. yesterday i checked that wrap job i did and it was loose ..my effort to fix a problem led to a problem ,,,hence the old saying " if it aint broke ... dont fix it !!!!

Engine electrical problems can lead to a circuitous trip thru hell!. I agree getting rid of a old point distributor makes everything seem to work better, but sometimes the journey can drive you nuts!

question ? .. do MSD boxes go bad ? .. i went to MSD ignition 10 years ago and it immediately stopped my problem of fouling plugs every week or so .... i never really paid attention to how it worked while it worked well .. now i am back to fouling plugs too often and my engine will not smooth out till about 3000 RPM .. it has a big cam but not one that big .. it`s a 6 AL i think ..

It's electronic so yes, it'll "go bad". You can start with the basics, check all connections, especially grounds.
10 years is a good run for any electric component. Some basic maintenance might be all it needs.

It's a capacitive discharge system and like most things electronic over time it can wear out.
