paint is 95 % good all over .. that`s why i probably wont repaint it .. got the old motor out today .. not gunna be as easy to swing that 650 LBs 429 over the rad support so i cut some of it out . it can welded or be made to bolt back in easy enuff ..not sure how many times in and out the motor will need ..i have frame and motor mounts from an older model if needed .. not sure if i need a rear sump oil pan yet .. the 302 was rear sump but there is lots of room and if need be i can raise the engine an inch or so ..gotta find a coulmn shift automatic column .. want to find a non power steering unit and non power brakes system .. want to find a non air heating system ..i`m one who the only power stuff i want is what the engine makes ..i dont think fuel and ignition systems will be much of a prob ..just revert back to old stuff ... got a busted 5.0 if anybody wants it ...iv`e used up all my sick days at work .. can i call in dead ?

the motor is sitting in place .. it`s gunna be an easy fit but i`m gunna wait to screw it down untill i get some headers to fit .. stock manifolds are out of the question .. i know i had headers on my 70 ford truck with this same motor in it but i dont remember the application to look up a part number ..there are headers for F250 and bigger stuff .. that`s where i may go ..shorty hotrod hearders are outrageous .. starting at 500 bucks ..iv`e used up all my sick days at work .. can i call in dead ?

as i said motor is sitting in place .. headers came in yesterday ..fit perfectly ..had to change to the rear sump oil pan .. no biggy ..this motor has had that before when it was in my Tbird ..with just a minimal amount of firewall denting the motor is sitting on the stock 302 frame mounts with the stock 429 mustang motor mounts .. simply have to drill a new hole for a cross bolt .. the trans crossmember and mount fit right up .. got to drill one new hole to bolt it to the frame ..only bummer at the moment is i wont have a speedo .. unless one of you knows how to adapt the electronic speedo to the old type tranny ..have`nt tried the driveshaft yet ..but as easy as everything else has been i expect it to fit with a simple yoke change ..iv`e used up all my sick days at work .. can i call in dead ?

Hoss---I put a 460/c6 into a 1970 F250 in late 1970---used the 360 front mounts and they set the engine a little up in the front, rear trans mount was good-
except----had a vibration every time I started forward with it unless we had the race car trailer hooked up so of course the common idea was that it liked being a push truck and loved the fire up roads infront of thousands of spectators------
Actually, tho, by shimming up the trans crossmember 1/2 inch at the outer frame rails corrected the alignment of the drive shaft ( 2 piece)---also after dozens of Ford engineers road/drove the truck, they liked the combo nd did factory job which finally came out in 1973--------I then got the 460 factory front mounts and was nice----also the initial install was with the Lincoln tail housing which was longer---later had trans shop change output shaft and tail housing to pick up version and was nice----
Did dual exhaust down right hand side as fuel tanks were on left? IIRC-----------
Truck is still around somewhere in Colorado owned by some retired Ford factory guy---got the reputation/nickname of the Devil Truck-----It also is in the movie Funny Car Summer about 1:06 and just after the front view of the big breasted girl in the Property of Dallas Cowboys shirt--------then me working over the dragster!!!!!!!!!!!

so you lead the way for a lima truck ..i dont remember ..was the 429 offered in an F100 ? did ford make an 390 and a 429 truck ? this same motor has been in a 69 ford short bed .. i used frame mounts and headers from a 73 up something .that was 30 years ago ..i still have them but they were no where near fitting this 97 ..Last edited by HOSS429; 09-06-2014 at 09:59 AM.

Hey Hoss ,
On my old c6 transmission, autometer and others make a plug in pulse generator that might work with the trucks electronic speedometer. Mine was part of the guage kit from autometer. You just need the gear off the old speedo cable, along with the c-clip that holds the gear to the cable, these parts go right into the pulse generator, which bolts right where the speed cable bolted.
These guys also have them and may be able to help

With folks like this if you approach them about selling they usually get a smile, and say never until I die. I think they get a perverse pleasure knowing they have something somebody really wants and they can hold that over them, though they will let it rot to ruin and never touch it or make any money off it. Sometimes you have to catch them at their own game, and show them a wad of hundred dollar bills as they are bitching about being poor(this works really well in front of their wife or kids). If you catch them off guard and flash cash in front of their greedy little eyes, sometimes they will jump on the money. It definately takes some skill and timing, but oh how nice it is when it works!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

i have always lamented about the lack of knowledge on my fathers side .i know everything about my mothers family . i didn`t even know my grandfather moons name ..all that has changed recently ..one of my older brothers found a distant family member who has collected just about everything there is to know ..i had known for many years that there were moons in the owens cross roads area and had been told that moontown was named after my moon relatives . yes ..we are from the same tree .. i had wished to find moons integrated in military history and boy did i ever ..and it is just a stroke of luck that i exist today .. great great great grandfather nathaniel moon who was a veteran on the war of 1812 went on to father 11 kids .. 5 boys and 6 girls .. when the civil war rolled around all 5 boys joined up but nathaniel said one of them had to stay home .. mother could not live losing all her boys .. the one who stayed was my great great grandfather ..the tomb stones in the pictures tell a terrible tale ..and the cemetery is of my family ..and there is revolutionary history as well .. more on that later as i study the information i just recently gotiv`e used up all my sick days at work .. can i call in dead ?
