Winnie's story ran to nine pages.
    Mine ran to twenty-one.
She wasn't the one out there wielding the axe or the saw or digging the post holes.
    Whereas I was.

The Balsoms did virtually nothing to improve the place during their tenure. The two older ones came out five or six years after we'd bought it, and I commented about how what fences there were on the place when I bought it were in a dilapidated state, and the oldest one (Can't think of his Christian name at the moment,) said "Well of course they fell down; the posts rotted."
Hello? That's where you get a spade out and replace it. It's called 'maintenance'.

Yep, our local newspapers (all three of them,) are still extant. And perhaps I should approach them to see if they're interested in publishing. I just hadn't thought of them before.

I mean...do people really want to read about the story of one particular farm?

In my neck of the woods that story would make a great sunday feature. Lots of folks still care about what things happened in the past on a place local to them. You won't ever know if you don't ask. I'd say go for it!!

you ask .. what do you do HOSS when your`e not telling hilarious jokes and riveting stories of days of yore .. well .i spend more time on you tube than i do on the TV .. i cant stand most music so i rarely if ever listen to the radio .. when i did turn on the radio it was to listen to conservative talk shows most of all who have now been silenced thanks to the latest election ..i have a playlist on you tube that i play at least once a week of songs and music i can tolerate .. i love piano music as i can play a few notes myself but hardly anything like this .. if you watched Tom and Jerry much growing up you may recognize the tune .

Your son TJ ended up keeping the place in the family, right? I'd say at the very least he would enjoy having the history, and if you self published it into a hard bound or paper bound booklet so much the better! If you put the file on a memory stick he can add his years down the road, to keep the story going.

as stated in a post or 12 back i am hankering for a 5 speed to go in my pinto .. i dont have clutch pedals yet but i have a lead on a trans ,, a fellow on craigslist locally has a 4.3 S10 with a 5 speed for 1300 bucks .. that`s a few hundred more than i want to spend so i will wait him out till he drops it to maybe an even grand or so .. it may be more than i can deal with as i think the S10 should have a hydraulic clutch .. i have not looked into that yet ..but iv`e figured out worse things ..

i built a V8 pinto very similar and based on that car back in 78 or so .. that is one on my old cars i`m still looking for .. i hear rumors of it being around from time to time .. just never have lucked up on it .. its` hard to look in shut garage doors from just driving by .. the fellow i sold it to murdered his wife a few years later and spent like 30 years in prison .. i go to the area he lived in and neighbors remember him and the car but dont know what became of it .. i wish i had pictures from back then .. i dont know if i ever mentioned it here but i worked briefly with Bob Gliddens brother in law .. he got me a t shirt in the early 80`s .. it had the tbird that Bob destroyed in Atlanta i think .. i wore it so much it did not last long ,,

it`s 1976 and i`m cruising around in my R code 69 .. just left a buddies house .. he has a 351 blue 69 as well .. i leave a 4 way stop and another friend whips up beside me in a 440 challenger .. of coarse we get it on .. he jumps me about a fender and holds it there till we let off at the bottom of the hill .. he in the left lane barely misses a car coming up .. later in the day my buddie with the blue 351 gets a ticket for a drag race he did not do .. my car was blue as well .. years later he was telling me about getting that ticket .. i admitted it should have been mine ..

little excitement in the hood this morning ..huge double wide home being put in a tight spot down the road .. i often wondered how they make tight 90 degree turns and now i know .. they have a swing machine to put under the home and pivot it around . they had a little trouble with wet ground ,, and i`ts crazy the way these guys crawl around all under this thing even while i`ts moving .. just knew i was gunna see someone get crushed ..

as i said we sell them at lowes now but our policy is we can only replace something that is the exact part number ,, some ratchets and sockets that come in marked down sets or so have unique part numbers that only craftsman themselves can replace or deal with ..and i think most military issue stuff has unique numbers that we do not recognize .. the only craftsman product we have problems with is weed eaters .. dont buy a craftsman weed eater ..

good things come to those who wait .. a dozen posts or so back i was lamenting my desire for some new tires for the pinto and the inflated prices .. i searched fb and gregslist every day .. this morning these beauties popped up for less than half price and i pounced on them .. been riding on my same tires for over 20 years .. i still have to buy one more front tire at the full evilbay price but thats ok ,, i just have to keep them hid from the scum i was talking about in my deleted post until i can get them mounted . hopefully i can get 20 years out of these as well .. i`ll be 86 ... HA !!

nice event a few days ago .. actually more cars there than i expected .. most all i have never seen before ,, if the place continues it will certainly become one of the biggest shows in the area .. i think this is the 4th or 5th year .. a little surprised that no one recognized me but i have cut way back on car activity in the last several years ..i noticed my pictures dont fill the page anymore .. i reset my camera to try to post pictures on city data but that failed .. i dont have a third party host anymore ,, if any of you are considering photobucket then dont unless you are willing to pay for hosting .. they promised me unlimited hosting years ago then changed ..my pick for best of show ...
