Yeah, sure it was. You ever price parts for a beemer?

That's only part of the reason that car was in the bone yard!.
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

I have never been completely happy with the headlights on the truck and decided to try out a different set. They are Model A reproductions and will be mounted near the wheels and will turn with the steering. They will also be positioned near the trucks original location when pointed straight ahead. Made the mounting brackets today.

 Started with a paper template.

Then cut the brackets out of a piece of scrap

Painted the brackets and will install with the headlights tomorrow.

I mounted the headlights today but am not happy with the way they look. Too far apart and too conservative.

Decided to play around with the original headlights again

Also experimented with some motorcycle lights

Very nice on getting your truck done and taking it on such a cool trip! There were a lot of sweet rides there. Thanks for sharing the vid. Congrats on your win at the show too! How'd you fair after the hurricane?Ryan

Thanks! Got back in time to sand bags some things and then evacuate. We were not allowed back in for a week due to all the trees and power lines that were down. Fortunately, we only lost what was in the freezer. A few homes were badly damaged but most got lucky when it came to trees falling. Also, landfall timing changed a bit and it came in at low tide instead of high tide as predicted. Thanks for asking.

Well, i tried the Model A lights in every position imaginable but did not like any of them or there were interference issues. This is what I went with along with a single motorcycle light on each spindle (not in photos). I installed an amber led in the lower sockets of the vw buckets also. These lights along with the lights in the bull horns will serve as running lights as well as blinkers. As an added benefit, the headlights actually meet the minimum height requirement in my state.
