Been plodding on and got some parts back from vapour blasting and powder coaters, popped the gauges into dash insert to see how it looked, love it !!!

Got all the suspension, bracketry, seat frame and steering bits done in satin black, no shiny here, least it will all be ready for when I need it, working on 6P principle

The seat aluminium sides got welded up together and welds blended and fettled then off to vapour blasting with all the other aluminium parts.

It is after all a workshop truck you are building and you certainly wouldn't want the other Willy's dropping her front lip in jealousy because she has to share driveway space with another shiny beast. I think the mate finish with the aluminium will look fabulous.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

I got the chassis out of storage yesterday, it has been blasted clean but unfortunately got done just before I went into hospital so has flash rusted slightly, it makes doing the last bits of welding easier though, once all done I will get it freshened up as the blaster is only a couple of miles away.

The centre section front legs were a little tight on the trans, I tried to alter what was already there but it was too time consuming so chopped the old ones off and will get some new metal folded tomorrow.

I had previously made some of the ladder bar front mounts but hadn't finished them, so that was today's job

I got the new legs folded up but the only had black steel so had to sand them clean before doing anything !!!
One done.

for some reason I didn't get the rear shocks fitted so I got that done too, they are MGA levers off a friends race car that went telescopic, they are re valved so much stiffer.

Also enlarged some of the existing chassis holes and cleaned them up

Dammed, what I love about you is you always make it seem way too easy! In the process you make it look like it was always that way.Scott

Made up shock axle brackets, just need to clean case and tig them in place.

Been thinking about axle location, a pan hard won't work correctly with a transverse spring in my opinion so been looking at alternatives, thought about a Mumford set up but it's a bit to complicated for the space I have so decided on a Watts linkage.
First job was to make the centre pivot out of a lump of aluminium bar.

Next some tube was found and threaded inserts made up

A simple bracket was made to start with and then added to as I went
