Xmas time again so found a bit of time for my own project, I pulled dash out to prep it for paint and looking at it thought it looked a bit bland, so decided to give it a bit more character.
    This how it looked

first job was to chop out the instrument section

Next I cut some 1.5mm aluminium sheet into 2 pieces, first one as a backing sheet and the front, then these were tig welded together around the outer edge. I recently invested in a new Miller Dynasty 210 tig welder and one of the really useful functions of this machine the the arc frequency control so this was wound up to 300 and away we went, turned out pretty good for time use.

I would normally of metal finished the faces before welding but completely forgot to do it but no problem as it will be vapour blasted shortly, the welded edges were blended & fettled to a nice radius and holes drilled for rivets.

While I was on a roll I thought I would tackle the lower switch panel, thought it was gonna be a fiddly taxing job but it went easy, don't often get that happen !!!

First job was to cut a couple of strips of 1.5mm aluminium and drill the switch holes

Next I cut 2 slots out

Once cleaned all the edges up the top was put over the bottom plate and the various switches replaced, I havn't welded the edges yet as I ran out of gas and all the suppliers are shut bacause its bl00dy xmas !!!

Sexy! You've got a great eye for design, and the ability to bring it to reality creating something unique. Really like watching the innovation you bring.

Great work! I like your style and how you come up with stuff so nice and quick! Congrats on the parts sales increasing. I wish you luck it keeps going so you can buy more hot rods to build so we all can watch a long!

I popped into my mate the chromer this morning and he presented me with my heater control panel parts, all nicely replated

This is how they looked when I got them

    And now replated
