Steve, that looks very nice! I hope things are going great for you down there!

About time I did an update I guess, not done much as been a bit ill and had a big operation but I have been able to do small light jobs, first up was i've seen some rocker cover wing nuts on a few Y blocks in the states but the prices were stupid so I decided to make my own. So I bought some 12mm butterfly nuts to get a decent size, the valve cover studs are 5/16" unf so I spun up some adapters and welded them into the butterfly nuts, the welds were then sanded smooth and the ears trimmed, these need to be polished yet.

I did a hell of a lot of sanding on the panels but its difficult to continue so my buddy Brad has stepped in and helped me out, he is a very good pro body man so it will be top notch I know. heres a few pics, its actually a lot further on but I havn't taken any pics recently.

Seeing as we were getting towards the painting stage I chose the colour, It looks grey in the pic but it has green in it also, It will be shiny 2K straight colour, originally it was going to be a satin red/brown oxide, but the panels are now so very straight and it deserves a nice shiny colour, I chose something that would look an older colour

Now it was all stripped down I had to repair the cutouts in the front panel and trim the horns back 3", the main spring leaves are being shortened 3" and the front shackle re positioned 3" further back to keep it all behind the front panel. exactly the same as I did on my coupe
First the horns were trimmed and boxed off, the drivers side horn has the towing eye in it so a nut was welded on the inside of the capping plate, once this was done a piece of studding was ground to a point so I could mark the hole in the front panel and drill out with a holesaw.

Good to see back at it Steve and I hope your recovery continues to go smoothly. You got the Chevy truck all legal yet ?
Lotsa good stuff there, Steve. Heartland prayers lifting you up to defeat the gremlins bothering your health. Positive attitude is a big, big plus!! Tell Sue "Congrats" on her Best Hot Rod award for the RPU, too! How cool is that?
Steve, great to see you back on here! I'm sorry to hear of your health issues but I also wish you a great and speedy recovery! Don't over do it. It sounds like you're gathering quite the collection down there too.
Thanks Ryan, I might as well come out with it and let you all know unfortunately I have incurable prostrate cancer that has got into my bones and lymph glands so I wont be fully recovering, Good news is it can be controlled with hormone injections and some chemo therapy but i'm told i'm unlikely to be as strong as I once was, I'm very positive though and won't let it get me down as got too many cars to build LoL
.
Wow Steve sorry to hear this news. I glad you are remaining positive, and pursuing your passions!
Ditto, Steve. The Power of Positive Thinking is a proven fact! Even when the Doc's say they don't know what to do next keep plugging, convince them to use their brains and push the envelope! WE NEED MORE BUILD THREADS FROM YOU!!!! :-)
That's not good news mate.
I've been following your posts and have thoroughly enjoyed them.
Let's just hope that the doctors can do sufficient to keep you fit and active for a long. long, time to come.
All the best from all of us downunder.
Kia kaha - be strong.
Been plodding on and got some parts back from vapour blasting and powder coaters, popped the gauges into dash insert to see how it looked, love it !!!

The seat aluminium sides got welded up together and welds blended and fettled then off to vapour blasting with all the other aluminium parts.

It is after all a workshop truck you are building and you certainly wouldn't want the other Willy's dropping her front lip in jealousy because she has to share driveway space with another shiny beast. I think the mate finish with the aluminium will look fabulous.
