Spent the last two days on the road getting down here to Vegas. And just so you know, behaving badly is still behaving.:)
I hope your surgeon is very capable and your overhaul is successful. Do your PT, it will make the outcome even better...........you gotta work through the pain.
Yes mate it was on a private forum where they thought their comments wouldn't be seen but they didn't realise i have friends there too  A friend informed me of what was being said so i embarrassed them all by posting their comments on our NSRA forum for all to see  I think it opened a few eyes.
I'm an easy going bloke really and i live and let live and just do my own thing but the comments were very personal and scathing, I wonder who the winner is here as i'm the one with full order books and have had an increase of enquiries since this happened
I did confront one of them as i happened to have his address in my phone :D :D so drove the 40 miles to his house and rang the bell at 9pm, Now as you can imagine i was pretty angry and at 6ft and 16 stone i'm not exactly small but he opened the door and went white rapidly  and blubbered it had all been taken wrongly, he was so scared i felt sorry for him and left but at least he now know's !!!
The thing that really annoys me is that these people are nice to my face and would never say it to my face !!! Oh and the fact also none of them have ever built a car despite being in our hobby 30 years or more !!!
Nothing funnier than folk i guess !!!
Not much work yesterday as it was my birthday and Sue insisted on taking me for a meal and beer
But i did sneak a bit of time in the morning, I picked up a pair of 9" shafts that had been drilled Chevy pattern (thanks Al) so popped them in and bolted on my rear wheels, It looks completely different now, The tyres i will be running are gonna be 30" tall which is 2" bigger than the radials on the wheels a the moment.
I also taped a door into position and laid the hood in place to give a better idea of look.

Yep, yep, yep..............that's a gasser alright! :) That's the way a Willys should sit.
Steve, what do you do, move back and forth between working on customer's cars, your 26, and this one? I find it tough enough to muster up the energy to work on one, but you are way over the top.
Don
Whip - wishing you a successful surgery.
Don - I agree, and have to add you and Ken to the list of cranking out stuff too!
Steve - keep on posting I love the look already!
Basically yes Don, the day is taken up with customers stuff and around 5pm i go onto the willys till about 9pm or the 26T whichever is needed.
I do get asked how i keep my mojo going but i don't have a problem really as i enjoy it so much :D being creative is my carrot i guess.
Good onya Steve,,I hope word got around real quick that you got in his face,,,what a pack of useless weasels...For what its worth,I think that,if the taxi chassis works, use it..thats what hotrodding is all about, and, down here,we also, have had to improvise a great deal,as what we sometimes want,is either too expensive,or not available..Carry on brother,it looks like a gasser to me...
Oh,yeah,HAPPY BIRFDAY from us down here..Hope it was a good one..now get back to work..OOps,I should too..
HAPPY BIRFDAY Steve! (birfday.. is that an aussie/NZ term? LOL)
These are the hinges i will be using, The u shaped bracket gets welded to the A post upright which then alows the hinge to be adjusted.

They were setup with a piece of 1/4" bar to align the hinge pins.

The rear of the body is mounted on a removable section.

Well got a few hours in last night and started to make up the firewall, Its made in 3/4" x 3/4" x 1/16 wall box, It all bolts in and the box was free has it had a bit of rust on it so will get media blasted and powder coated, It will get skinned in polished stainless sheet as i already have some, It will be held in place with rivets for an old timey look.
The frame will be tied into the door hinges, one thing i picked up talking to willys owners at Bakersfield was that on all the willys when you open the doors they drop, This obviously is because when the firewall gets shoved back the A post loses all its strength, gonna make sure the strength is put back in this one.

Looking good,Steve,,wouldnt even know you had a pommy taxi frame under there now, would ya??:confused:What?did I say something wrong??:D:D
Hi guys,I'm back as that bloke said in some movie. Heck the pain but as everybody knows "No pain,no gain" so all is good. Thanks to all for your comments.
Steve, with the work you have done with the frame to reinforce the firewall, the doors certainly won't have that old age droop. I'm impressed young man. Oh a belated "Happy Birthday" to you sir.
I also have to agree with you about the balancing act life is between work, leisure and one's love life. If she indoors is being loved then there is always time to play with your own toys in the sandpit.
Great look on the firewally, Steve!!! I'll take correct structuring over mass any day!!!! Light and strong will always be my favorite!
Finished the firewall frame now, just a bit of cleanup to do and blast & prime

Looks like that should give good support in every direction, Steve.:)
Don
Very strong Steve and I'm impressed with the amount of foot room you will have in there, you got room for three pedals. I always thought the Willy's weren't much bigger across the A posts as an Anglia but that looks huge.
Awesome looking car Steve! I read this thread from top to bottom tonight and wow am I impressed (to say the least)
I don't know how I missed this great thread before. Lovin it. :):)
This Willys is one of my favorites. Keep up the good work.
Don Jr. :toocool:
Roadster some nice skeleton work you did there . Good thread showing the work involved bringing a glass body to a metal structure !!!!!!!!!!!!
Finished the firewall now, I was going to buy a sheet of polished stainless and do it it one bit but it was $155 for a 2metre x 1 metre sheet, Ended up using offcuts i had laying around, just had enough to do it in 3 pieces, its bolted in with 5mm button head bolts at the moment but these will be replaced with rivets when i have time.
