Lynch mob??? They'll have to catch us first!! Maybe I better get a big block?!?!?!:LOL:

And today began "DE"construction.. here's a couple pics.
And after a couple hours, it looks like this..
Might as well share a couple other projects while I'm at it! The red one is a 47 IH "A", the little green one is also a 47 Fairbanks Morse 2 HP and it drives the 1904 reciprocal saw.
Kewl shots, 34! Spent a lot of hours on one of those little red IH tractors when I was a kid! Dad had one, used it for mowing and raking hay, cultivating corn, etc! The picture of yours brings back a lot of memories!!!!!!!!
very nice saw .guy up front had one abit newer had a brass tag on it that said Holley like number 20 on it . may of went to the scrap yard.i should of spoke up on it
Hey Mike, is that your red pickup, too??
I grew up on that very tractor so it'll never leave the farm as long as I am alive! Same as you, plowing /cultivating/pullin' harrows etc. etc. etc...
I'd like to find another! I know there was a smaller version of this saw but I haven't found one ... YET!..
No, that's my uncles, it's a 48 with a 302 / AOD. It's ok.. he drives the snot out of it and it shows. A couple years back he sent it to a "guy" and they painted it. BUT, it looks awful!!! I want to re-do it but he figures I'm to picky!!!:LOL: He says if I start to do it then I'll tie it up all summer!:D
So I finished "De-construction" and have begun... cleanup I guess I'll call it. I started to do the cut and buff on the firewall that I couldn't reach with the motor in the way.. already "broke through" the paint so some touchup is now in my future.:mad:
This morning I dropped off the headers at UPS for shipment to Jet Hot for coating. With the good referrals and warranty.. I figure now is the time to make it happen and it should be a LOT better than wrapping!
So nothing exciting to post. Just sanding... and sanding... and sanding.. I hate sanding! :D
While you guys are complaining about sanding I can only wish that mine was at the sanding stage......:3dSMILE::3dSMILE:
It sure is nice to sit here with a smirk about my car - but then there are the 'honey-do's' . The @#$% kitchen - needs a new patio door, counter tops, floor and work lights followed by a new tub and surround in the main bathroom. THEN, I get to take the engine in the '31 apart and fix the strange clunking noises. Too many relatives over the past couple of weeks plus a mega bad head cold/flu that have slowed any forward progress.
Now, Mike, about those missing photos of your 'pain' .......
HMmmm... not sure what to say about the honey-do's & home improvements.. I'm ignoring those again.. ps, I am now in possession of a nice 302 as an extra if anyones interested...
Dave, sorry to hear your not feeling well, it is cold & flu season so here's hopin' yours doesn't get worse! :)
Pics of the pain.. I haven't been sure if I want to document the mess. But I see Randy bitchin' already:eek: but now I realize we haven't seen ANYTHING from his side of town..:D:D:LOL:
Lastly, I had chatted with someone (maybe you IC2?) about a smaller diameter distributor.. to fit inside this Shelby intake. I've tried a stock unit, an accel and now a mallory unit and haven't had any fit so far. If this topic rings a bell, could you refresh my memory?? :o
I might point out that this time Dave bitched first and I simply agreed....:)
As for me, I've been in Oklahoma since the 20th. I suppose I could post pics of painting my mom's bathroom or putting rotors & pads on her car, changing a few light bulbs, etc but I kinda figured I'd wait till I get back to CA to post some more interesting stuff.....:3dSMILE:
I guess sanding is about as interesting as paintin' the bathroom... or doin' brakes on Moms ride.
Glad to know you got some family time back home! And we look forward to see more interesting "stuff" from your side of the country!
I'll try to remember to bring the camera with me tomorrow...
Yep - the MSD small diameter billet distributor - 5/8" smaller in diameter. P/N 8479 (http://www.msdignition.com/Products/...ro-Billet.aspx and MSD Pro-Billet Street Distributors 8479 - SummitRacing.com) and at least $50 bucks more now then when I bought mine.
You do need to make sure you have the right drive gear for the camshaft you are using - I have a steel billet cam and steel gear.
About those photos ............
One each, MSD 8429 as installed:

Same dist. but with the big cap a little later in the day:

Thanks for those Dave! Could I trouble you for a measurement? Could I ask for the O.D. of the distributor just above the intake? If it isn't to much trouble???
I also notice your PCV is on the left front of the motor. Where I usually set it to the right rear. Works the same I know, just a different approach...
Is that the fuel filter across the rear of the intake? I'll bet you never expected so many questions from 2 pictures!! LOL..:LOL:
:) I think that's how Dave & I first became acquainted....he always posted such great detailed pictures in his responses on my first thread. As I studied the pics, I would notice other things he did that would spark more questions. I've learned quite a lot from Dave since '07! Thanks, Dave! :D
Mike - the distributor is about 3.900/3.915 (about as good as I can measure without pulling the hood). There is also a taper on the bottom ~1/4 of the upper body that goes down to about 3.5. It also stands proud of the block about 3.5 inches.
I use the PCV at the front of the engine to get it away from return oil flow and the fact that the carb has the fitting at the front - also just because I can:3dSMILE:.
Yes, that is the Speedway 6" fuel filter at the back. I used 2" billet clamps from Yearwood and a home made bracket. I plan on putting a SS hard line instead of the braided over the winter so that location may end up changing.
Randy - Thanks. I really appreciate the good words:D:D
Randy. That's what got the 3 of us hooked up! I remember asking Dave for pics of his rear brakes as I was working on mine and we have almost the same setup.
Of course he obliged me with great pics and great explanations!
Just like he did today, I asked for a single measurement and get 3 or 4!
YEP! Dave is one of the good guys and a real asset to this place! He's made me feel welcome here and I have always been glad he wanted to meet up with me at the show in Burlington, VT.
So as this year draws to a close.. I'll take this opportunity to say again, THANKS DAVE!:D:)
OMG - only doing my 'job' guys, but thanks Mike (hope my hat still fits)
So I've spent some hours sanding and today got some buffing and painting completed... Here's a couple before paint pics,

Attachment 57247
Temperature wise it was a glorious day! Windy & Gusty but it was in the 50's and the shop was warm without hardly trying. :D
So I'm just about over the flu, but my arms / legs are sore from sanding and buffing and standing / crawling / hunching over and here's where I left it this afternoon. Pics aren't in order but you can figure it out!
I'm exhausted but I'm not sure if I'm hypoglycemic or just tired so I'm gonna go test and find something to eat.. I'll see you'all later. :)
I did the whole weekend screw off thing myself!!!!!! and no, I don't feel guilty, needed the break:LOL::LOL::LOL:
You mean something like this??

So far - not a problem
======================================
AAAAAAHHHHHhhhhhhh.... You're killin' me! :eek::LOL::LOL::D**)
I've got a trans mount that seems to find every speed bump and it appears every driveway is out to snag me and try to hold me right in that spot. Most embarrasing!:(
And it's worse with 2 in the car.. and I've run out of shock length for adjustment.
Mike, I'm just trying to do for you what Dave (IC2) does for me.....help you with practical solutions and spend your money!!!:LOL::LOL:
BTW, Dave, you'll be happy to know that I ordered a rear mount fuel injection gas tank w/in-tank pump for my truck yesterday! But that's for another thread!:LOL::LOL:
