Heck, That tunnel ram and dual fours won't work at all.....I think you might as well just send it to me, maybe I could figure out something to do with it......
:rolleyes:;):LOL::LOL::LOL:

Mike this is what you REALLY need instead of that cobbled together low visual impact arrangement:

Either send it to Dave S or me for 'proper' disposal

I C 2 hit it on the head with that old school look fuel injection set up
Sure would be fun to set the new engine and tunnel ram in a '65 or '66 Mustang Fastback! A bit of suspension work, roll bars, and you'd be all ready for some Trans Am racing!!!!!!
And that is exactly what that intake was created for! Trans Am!
Wish I could've seen a race or two from "back in the day" , live and in person!!
On the SAAC site, there was one fella running this intake, but I don't remember him having any complaints or issues with it. Just a bit of "vintage" style racing. I found it amusing as this intake wasn't available until 1969. He's running it on a notch back 68 Mustang. So he isn't "technically" legal.. but whos counting? LOL..
Yep! same here.. I've been to Watkins Glen once. I'd love to make it back. A great track with a bunch of history. Set out on the lawn and just watch / listen to the cars!! Way cool...
Matter of fact, here's one now!!!!!
Suh weet! I'll take one in Red.. then one in White.. and then to complete the set.. the one above! That should cover it! LOL..
Then I'll wake up right?!?!?
Here's a link to more info on the car pictured. It raced in SCCA, Northeast Division!!!!

That's cool! Not very pretty when you see it up close! But she's been a workhorse for a lot of years! Or perhaps I should've said a thoroughbred ? Nah... just a mustang! LOL..
So I go out with the coupe for a ride yesterday since I was doin' the bachelor thing and just having a nice ride along the country roads when all of a sudden.. the car seems to go flat... Cr_ P!!! SO I coast to the edge of the road and try to re-start but it just cranks and cranks... Again.. Cr_p!
I realize I'm sitting to close to the center still so I gotta push it... Yes.. CR_P!
Once I'm out of the car the fans startup with the heatsoak from the motor and I'm curious if I've left the key on and peak inside to see that indeed the key is still turned to on.. and then I realize.. I don't hear the fuel pump... hmmm.. did I mention.... CR_P!! Well, I push the car to the edge.. (it rolls quite easily!) and jump back in to turn the key off. As I'm sitting there realizing I don't have my cell phone! Yes, CR_P! And I'm out amongst the cornfields... AH CR_P!!!
I thinking I gotta abandon the car and hoof it to a house and hope their home.. I then turn the key and hear the fuel pump running! What the??? I give it a minute and let it fill the carb then start the car and start driving home. We get about 5 minutes of driving in and it dies again. BUT! I'm a lot closer then I was... cr_p!
Well. Long story short. I drove it all the way back to the shop like this. Except each run got shorter and shorter, til I waited longer to let the pump cool. But I could wrap my hand around the pump and it wasn't hot?!?!?! No matter, we made it back into the shop and I didn't have to do any more pushing! Did I say? CR_P!!!
So.. this stroker will be running a mechanical pump, I had already planned on that by making sure the eccentric was in place.. I guess I learned a couple lessons yesterday, don't trust a holley fuel pump and always keep the cell phone close by... fwiw..
Mike - if you recall, even having that eccentric, if it's the two piece version is still not a guarantee that you wont 'run out of gas' (or forget the cell phone).
Holy CRAP, Mike, do you have an aversion to the letter "A"??:LOL:
Sorry your country cruise turned into a PITA! That's why my cell phone is always stuck to my person unless it's stuck to the charger. It may result in cancer on my right pelvis (always in my pocket) but at least I can always call AAA....;)
So, did you determine the fuel pump is bad or just a bad connection or something?
Looking to the brighter side, at least you got to take your car for a cruise even though it was intermittent. I look forward to that day with mine!!!
Happy Thanksgiving!!! :D
I've installed the heavy single piece eccentric. And yes, there is no guarantee. With the fuel pump OR the cell phone!! **)
No. No aversion to "A".. I was just remembering how crap turns to s_ _t!
I've never gotten into the habit of carrying the phone. I leave it behind all the time, even workdays which is bad 'cause it's their phone!:eek::LOL:
I'n not going to go seek what the pump problem is as the whole deal comes apart over this winter. But, it seems to be "lazy".. it runs for a bit then stops. So, I'm glad I didn't need a roll back or wrecker but I hate it that I got stuck, even for a bit!
Dang near qualifies as "the cruise from Hell"! Oh well, stuff happens and you made it home----eventually-----!
Yes, there is a direct correlation between the two and I just couldn't resist the temptation to give you a little bit of both!!!:LOL::LOL::LOL:
Yes, it definitely sucks when your shiny new rod gets stuck along side the road.....even if it's a country road where nobody sees it!!! Glad you made it back safely.
Was your "lazy Holley" a new one? does it have a filter? could it be clogged up or is the fuel actually running intermittently? Even if you're going to toss it, I'm just curious why it quit. Enquiring minds wanna know.....but it's not the end of the world if we don't find out....:LOL::LOL:
HMmmm... you and I always have trouble with that same temptation! HAH!**)
No filter in front. Yes, new.. (relatively speaking) no real time on it. I also run 3 port regulators so I can control fuel feed pressure and the remainder of the fuel returns to the tank. I keep line pressure at 4 psi so I can't say it's been overworked and actual runtime can't be but 15 : 20 hours total. Somewhere over the winter it'll come apart and we'll try and diagnose what happened.
Mike, it sure does sound like a fuel pump motor problem. Our trip to Des Moines in July one of the guys ran strong for two hours before coasting to a stop along the side of I-35, and getting hauled to the hotel parking lot. Thought we fixed it with a new fuse, believing that condensation from the AC had caused the blow, only to have the same thing on the way home. Once it stopped it would not start without "resting" for 1/2 hour, then it would only run for about five minutes. Changed the in-tank pump and it seems to be OK again. With an external Holley, maybe carry a spare?
Is the pump the old style Holley, or one of the new gear rotor pumps?
It surprises me to hear of an internal pump failure. I thought they're big advantage was running so much cooler immersed in the fuel. I've already made up my mind and planned on going back to the mechanical pump.
Yep, old style. The "funny" thing for me in all this is that I've run this same setup a few times before and never had an issue. Then I get on here and a bunch of folks tell me no way would they run an electric due to the failure rate which shocked me!
Then I go for a simple cruise on one of the last warm days and get stranded by the electric fuel pump.. sheesh! :D
See what happened??? People got you concerned about the pump and jinxed it!!!!:LOL: I suppose Holley, like so many other companies, has found a way to cheapen up the build cost on their old style pumps in order to keep the price low.... I'd like to try a belt driven pump (like a Hilborn or K&N), only drawback being you'd have to run an electric pump for start up, then switch over to the belt driven pump....???
Yep.. I'm Jinxed!! Belt driven, sounds interesting but a engineering nightmare.?.?
I had a friend back in New Mexico who ran a supercharged big block bow tie in a vette on alcohol. He ran a belt drive pump. Kept a plastic bottle of fuel with him so he could restart it. I got pretty good at dribbling in fuel into the injector hat until the pressure came up! :HMMM: Certainly not a boulevard cruiser but, it made everyones head spin when we showed up at a local cruise night!:LOL::eek:
I was thinking maybe a pressure switch on the belt driven pump to shut off the electrical pump after the engine is running and generating ___ PSI of fuel pressure???? It would of course require a dual pickup arrangement at the tank... Hadn't really planned out the whole system, but should be able to make it functional and reliable???
Actually, I never minded when my carb was empty after sitting for a while because I could spin the motor over and build up oil pressure and re-fill the carb with gas before starting.
This would "sort of" be your situation.. spin it with the ignition off and get your fuel pressure, then snap on the ignition and light the candles! LOL..
My good friend Mark came by and while we were hanging out he offered to help me lift the hood off. With the 4 pieces it's awkward at best with 2 lifting and darn near impossible alone. After, he snapped this pic with his phone and ran it through some "app" to turn it black & white and then with his finger he added the car color back in.... weird, but a cool pic I thought!
Interesting shot with everything around the car in black and white! IMO the '33's and '34's still make the best looking cars, always have preferred them over the deuces.
It is an interesting look and he did it with his phone... I guess I'll have to agree with you on the best looking cars! LOL :LOL::rolleyes::D:eek:
