:HMMM: :HMMM: serious money
that would be great to see you get that done. your right, nothin like windin a chevy out to 7 grand
or 12k.........
I TOTALLY CONCUR W/JEDI MASTERS DAVE & ERIC
THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT! MY RATTS TACK QWICKER THAN MOST BIKE ENGINES,THEY GO TO 8000RPM W/NO PROBLEM!ALL DAY[JUST IN CASE SOMBODYS TALKING S^@%] BUT THATS JUST THE WAY I BUILD THEM.W/ALL THE AVAILABLE TECK OUT NOW, THERE IS NO REASON NOT TO MAKE THAT A 302 PER SIDE. I HEARD THAT IN 2009 GM's LS LINE IS GOING TO COME OUT W/A 9LITER[544CI] DUAL OVERHEAD CAMed RATT W/A BLOWER IN THE VETTS & CAMAROS! THEN WE WILL SEE ABOUT WINDING SOME BIGINCH RPM [WSUP NOW RICEBOY TECH] NOT TO MANY PEOPLE KNOW THIS BUT WHEN ,THE LT5/ZR1 MOTOR FIRST CAME OUT IT WAS 427CI 4V/DOHC THE LT5 MADE 800HP STOCK FROM THE FACTORY! BUT @THE TIME THE MOTOR WAS SUPPOSEDLY TO HARD TO WORK ON & GM SHOT THEMSELVES IN THE D%^#$ AGAIN.THEY SHOULD'VE LEFT WELL ENOUGH ALONE;)
12 grand, what are you smokin? I think even the nextel guys would flinch at the thought of subjecting a sbc to 12,000 rpm. I can hear it explode from here!
George
In the '60s, one of my favorite classes was CC/Gas. It was typically populated with supercharged small displacement Chevies that would launch at 10,000, and shift at 12-12,500! Insane...but oh so cool sounding!
I used to accidentally run factory stock 327 shortblocks as high as 9,000. Never broke one!
9000 ON A 327 ?? HOW ACCIDENTAL WAS THAT ? Did you miss a shift or something.
Im Smoking The Compatiton Mostly But Befoe I Do That,! I Smoke The Back Tires, And Before I Do That I Smoke A Little Nitro W/15% Methonol And About 10gal. Of C-16! Kinda Takes THE Edge Off Ya Know/!
Yes! It's ancient technology to those who weren't building in the '60s and '70's. Most of my serious toys (including a '57 Bel Air, A '63 Nova, and many early Vettes) were solid lifter, high compression, small block, 4-speeds, which I tortured without pity. I would shift at 8,000-8,500, but as good as I was (in my own mind) I'd miss occasionally, and touch the 9,000 mark.Quote:

I tried to run my hipo 409's to 7500, but they were not happy about it, and always let me know immediately!
Those were good times though. :-) Today I like an automatic, and A/C.
I remember them well!!!! And I should... Whooped a whole bunch of them with my '56 Ford and it's 5,500 RPM 406 Tri Power.....
This thread keeps going, and them 302 chebbies gonna be out revving the Formula 1 engines soon!!!!!
Scooter stop please.Quote:

YOU SAY THAT LIKE ITS A BAD THING:eek:
AND YOU KNOW WHAT IM NOT FEELING MUCH LOVE FROM EVERYBODY HERE:CRY:
I'd sure be interested to hear the mixing ratio's for this nitro, methanol, and race gas formula.... Got some pics of your Vette that runs this concoction??? And if you're endorsing illegal drug usage as acceptable behavior, you might not do well promoting that here on CHR either.............
Burt,
Well now you've done it...didn't you realize what starting this thread would do to the delicate balance of the force? I sure hope no serious psycological damage has resulted from all this! It'll be on YOU my friend!!!
George
the dark side awaits you!
...I wonder if all you guys could get a group discount for some in depth counseling! Maybe I'm just speaking for myself here!
George
you should see the 219 hit 12k callies makes the crank
Counselling??? Why??? I always thought sanity was terribly overrated.....:whacked: :whacked:Quote:

No where did I put my Bull $hit spray at ??:whacked:
Obviously you younger guys, I am talking the young single guys here dont have any children ? Right !
Yeah, insanity is hereditary, you catch it from your kids!!!!!
You got that right Dave  :D
How many dependants do you have ?
:HMMM: :HMMM:
Now by dependants< i would mean how many cars !
Theres a social security form down here that lists number of dependants on the property ? I have allways been tempted to put down 2;)
The voices in my head tell me I don't need counseling, just more time to work on my car.
if your motor had a 2 and 7/8ths inch stroke or the 2 and 5/8's inch stroke you would be hitting 12k to think about it!

At 12,000 rpm's do you really think a mech. roller lifter is going to stay on a cam lobe?Quote:

5.a superlight crank $2,500.
6.BME alu.rods $1,000.
These are all catalog price's.
For a grand total of $6,750.
Before you add pistons, rings, bearings, balancing etc.
This why someone is really full of BS.:whacked:
Yep, I can see that those are real world costings, thats why a lot of us that are on a limited budget dont try it !!!! When something lets go "as they do", the heartbreak would be to much.
Mind you i was looking at an article on the net, apparrantly chevy performance did abuild up of a 302 with a blower in 95 revs were reasonably at 6750. So obviously the interest is there. :)
Just google it and type 302 supercharged in the search. **)
Eric, I tried out the chat room in the sister site, works well, just got to get a handle on it. You want to try it at some stage.....but and hour seems to go by real fast, like in 10 minutes :whacked:
erik its not b/s the guy has it, hes about 60 hes had the car for YEARS and it is loaded full of good stuff. i will get pictures for you.
Maybe he has one of those old Mallory tach's and put it on six cylinder to make it look like he is turning it that tight.:LOL:Quote:

You really have no idea what it takes to attempt an engine build like this.
In the late 60's and early 70's they did not have the ability to turn an engine this tight.
I think it was 8500 tops back then wasn't it, I am over in the chatroom now
who said it was back then? i am talking now.
Burty,
Clearly you MUST build a 12,000rpm 302!! Nuff said.
George
12,000 Rpm Is For Fags. I Won't Ride In A Vehicle That Doesn't Spin To 18,000 Rpm's. Off I Go Too Drink Kerosene With Koolaid And Adjust My Valves For Another 18,000 Rpm Drive. That Is All........
