if there hyd lifters there should be a 1/4-1/2 turn of preload on the lifters.. as for oil look up at the 2nd post from me the three oils are very good for know.. those oil are pretty easy to find and not a ton of cash. if your looking for the very best oil out there as of know it's the purple max cycle not the race oil. the max cycle is what we used in robby gordons baja trucks and daker rally hummer..
