Wow, you have so many "right" things going on with this truck. The flat bed really makes it look nice. I do like the wheels, however, if you were to age, or wheather them using paint, like to make them have spots of rust, that would throw this truck over the top. But thats just me, you know I like the rusty look.

Keep it up, the more pics the better, plus when you are done you can go back to the pics to remember how you did things!

Very cool truck and i enjoy your build with these pictures. I'm sort of new around here and just look at all the posts more than anything. I was just wondering(if you don't mind telling me), how much did you have to pay for these trucks? There are a few old trucks around my area that I am looking at, and was JW what kind of prices these do run for. Thanks in advance.

I paid $450 for the 48 flatbed I am building now. The S-10 that it is on was a $400 truck (running and driving).

The next in line was $800. It may also look rough in pictures, but it is virtually rust free structurally and has very minor damage.

I beat my dash into submission. Glovebox is gone and I fabbed a gauge panel.

I know the gauges aren't traditional.....but I have owned them for something like 18 years now and am going to use them.

My wood for the underbed area is attached

    Tail lights are attached

Damnit man, every time i see a truck liek this, i think about tossing my 77 C10pproject out the window and selling my daily driven bagged 99 Sonoma and picking up one of these trucks to build a rat! You have one bad ass truck here man, i like it alot. Its been right and looks great.

I have access to virtually every S10 part that i can shake a stick at and i know S10s like the back of my hand (hence the daily driven bagged sonoma).

The trouble is finding one of these trucks like this anywhere in Northern IL that isnt rotted to absolute hell or that someone wants an enormous amount of money for. When i used to travel around the US alot and down south, i saw these everywhere. In fields, broken down barns, hell even the woods! But are there any in Chicago? Nooooo. \

On another note, what type of wood did you use? I have some old Cedar planks laying around in the yard (leftovers from a huge 3 level deck my parents built) and i have been itching to do something with them. I now may have found a use for them. I love the look of aged Cedar. I think it would look right at home on a truck like yours.

    Pictures from this weekend

Exhaust pipes and front bumper are installed

Electric fan is mounted and fan shroud fabbed up

And the @#$%^!*&^!!!! electric wiper conversion is complete. It took forever to get the wipers to smoothly wipe the entire glass and be timed evenly.

    The flatbed works
