Speaking of work, here's the '56 Dodge redo Bill and I inherited after another clown screwed it all up and wasted a bunch of time and money...and yeah, that thing's got a hemi!!!!! As you can see, we have a lot of work to do. That's a new patch on the area behind the door, should have seen the junk the had RIVETED on there!!!! The rust above is just surface rust so no big deal, just have to grind it off and treat it with some Phix. The car is fairly straight, but does have some damage,, and unfortunately it appears that the worst of the damage was done intentionally. Shops like that reflect badly on all of us!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Also, I had decided I didn't like the way the hood came out on my pickup so I repainted the whole hood, moved the stripes around a bit and added the one red bar in the grille. This pic shows it wet sanded and buffed for the first time with compound only. Should come out ok, at least I like it better this time. I hate to leave something done that I was saying "would of, could of, should of before the rest of the project is even complete!!!! I've had this truck for 16 years now and haven't got it finished yet, so I guess another day spent repainting the hood isn't a big deal!!!!!
The pics show the way it was first, and the way it is now.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Thought about a 3rd color, I'm just not artistic enough to work it in anyway that it doesn't wind up looking dorky!!!! As for the red, white, and blue.....Hmmmmm nope, don't think wrapping myself up in the flag and visually expressing pride in a country that IMO has gone to ____ in a handbasket the last few decades probably wouldn't fit my style, either!!!!!!

Some day when I'm out to the farm, I'll try to remember to get a pic and some numbers off the pair that I have... The are complete with factory looking linkage...no idea what they came off of!!!! Got them at a swap meet many moons ago just cuz they were cool!!!! I ran two of them on a high winding, radically cammed 289 with the old Edelbrock 2 4bbl intake on a 65 Mustang coupe many years ago. They worked great!!! Simple old carbs to work on and synch. Don't even remember what the CFM rating was, maybe 400 or something????Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

[QUOTE=Dave Severson]Mine were a matched pair from an early Vette. The first time I tried to rebuild them I ran out of carb cleaner so I just mixed a little gas with what I had left.

I did think about a blue, purple, black or something pinstripe on the outside of the red pinstripe, but gave up on that, too!!!! Heck, it's already wet sanded and buffed now!!!!! I really want to get the old thing finished up this summer, 16 years is long enough!!!!!!!!!

Truck is looking good Dave, and 16 years isn't that bad. I like the ol' Hemi in the Dodge, she was a real screamer back in the day."Sunshine, a street rod and a winding beautiful Ozarks road is truely Bliss!"

Yeah, it should be a fun car, the owner is really excited to finally see some work being done on it. Got the rear quarter blocked in today, looks pretty good. Should be able to get the body shell in primer next weekend. Also today, took time to look over the front fenders....Looks like some real manly type had to prove how tough he was and caved in one of the headlight openings with who knows what, looks like it was hit with a big piece of flat bar stock or something.... Suppose the dude was PO'd cuz the owner pulled it out of his shop.... Guess ya gotta be tough to beat up a car, huh?????Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I agree, why take it out on the car! I think that baby is going to be a dandy to hotrod up.
I got my electric back up fan in today, no buffing, guy got tied up. I did get some new plugs in her and cleaned the engine so I am ready as I'm going to get for Branson @ 98degrees next weekend."Sunshine, a street rod and a winding beautiful Ozarks road is truely Bliss!"

I hope so, I let it idle in my storage unit in 100 heat and it stayed at 180 so maybe my heating troubles are gone. Branson in 100 degree weather with bumper to bumper traffic will be the test for sure."Sunshine, a street rod and a winding beautiful Ozarks road is truely Bliss!"
