I agree about not pulling air off the bottom near the heads. If you made a metal cylinder hanging down for looks, you could slot or lover the top part of it for air access and that should work ok. Just a suggestion, you have so many ways to go now. Look at some old pickup oil bath ones for inspiration perhaps.
