Well, seems to me it's been a whole lot more then just the last 2 years.... When I was 14 I worked at a gas station....we always raised the price on the Thursday before a long weekend in the summer....Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day. I managed a station for a few years in the late 70's, same thing happened then.....

Not everything in the world is a result of politics, some of it is just a natural occurance.

Those who blame the government whenever things go wrong....gotta wonder if you give the government the credit when things go right???? Guess I've never been one to give the government so much control of my life that I owe them for everything, good or bad, that happens!!!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I could not agree more, its just a damn shame that when Bush was in office that he didn't get the same prespective from the Govt hater's.

RSProtected people will never know or understand the intensity life can be lived at. To do that you must complettly and totally understand the meaning of the word "DUCK"

I gotta say that some of this is true, i do know how the seasonal trends go, but most were quick to blame bush! But now that the messiah is in office no one wants to throw this his way.

I guess were not getting much" Change" at the pump. He He.

I think it wouldn't matter if we had Pope Paul the 6th in charge, gas is simply going to command a certain price, just like milk, or eggs, or a suit. The people who are in that business know about supply and demand, and when they see the demand dropping, they pump a little less out of the ground.

Because of some temporary circumstances we all enjoyed a little break from the prices we had been seeing, but we all knew it wouldn't last. The rest of the world, with some exceptions, has been paying at least what we saw for a long time, and in most cases more. We just have to accept that gas will be whatever it is, and that we can't do a lot to control that price. The only thing we can do is use less, and we aren't real good about doing that. The minute gas went down everyone forgot about buying small, fuel efficient cars again and sales of SUV's and Trucks started happening again. We are our own worst enemy, and I am including myself in that group.

I think i read a couple of weeks ago that the oil companies are worried cause the demand has not been too great lately. I guess without china using much oil anymore it kinda threw a wrench in the works somewhere.

Im not really sure us using less oil will really have an impact, i think the traders will just get the lost revenue from raising the prices even more. Im starting to think that no matter who uses what amount somebody is still gonna get their money in the end.
But what do i know? If i knew how it worked i would be in the middle making all the money.Last edited by hotroddaddy; 05-23-2009 at 08:31 AM.

Well demand must be up this weekend. Going to work Friday afternoon, there was a solid string of San Franciscans fleeing the city, taking the usual traffic jams associated with their commute with them to wherever they are escaping! I hate going anywhere on a Holiday weekend because everyone else is out there on the road with you!
I'm just glad gas is under the 4.50 mark it hit here!
Anyways I reposted this thread because it is a sort of historical marker for what we are paying for gas at any given time. I remember as a kid going to the gas station and my folks paying .34 cents a gallon, then going to McDonalds and getting lunch for everyone for a buck!
As a teenager, It used to take about 3-4 bucks to fill my motorcycle up! At the price peak last year it was almost 70 bucks to fill the car, and 20 to fill the Harley!
So anyway would love to see what price ranges are going for across the country." "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve. "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

Come on you guys!!!! Not everything in the world is a political conspiracy!!!!! Maybe I need to line my baseball cap with tin foil so big brother can't read my thoughts??????

Rising and falling oil prices are business, pure and simple.... Some of the major oil company owners, members of the board of directors, and CEO's have more power and authority to institute change then any politician has ever dreamed of having!!!!! I don't know of any other business that could operate successfully on as slim of a margin (usually about 7%) as the oil companies. Huge profits are a result of a huge volume, plain and simple economics.... The huge volume is created by the consumer....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
