When you see innocent people being car jacked, or robbed especially the elderly, if I had the opportunity too intervene and stop some sense less crime I think it would be worth the hassle of owning a gun with a permit too carry. Unless you live around a big City with crime on the evening news, you could see where if someone was qualified too carry they could help. In Chicago 5 women were senselessly killed for being in the wrong place during a robbery, if one of those ladies had a gun I have to believe that some of the people would have been spared.

I just got permit to carry (concealed) in Connecticut. I figured I should get it soon before the laws change with all the liberal tree huggers getting elected and my dad has a collection that I will some day inherit.

The process was a complete PITA. The police interviewed my neighbors (mostly elderly) and scared them into thinking I was some gun crazed nut. Then they threatened to deny my application because I stated I had never been arrested, but in fact, 19 years ago I was ticketed for trespassing (swimming at the state reservoir). After making me sweat for a few months, the permit showed up in the mail.

Meanwhile I hear that the crack addict neighbor down the street has an arsenal (undoubtedly illegal)...

Ive been following the progress on this item in my Freedom magazine from the NRA. Glad to see the Supreme court made a correct decision on this one! Ive been carring concealed ever since Florida first past its CCP back in the 80's! I now live in Tn near Memphrica and feel much safer with my 45 tucked under my shirt!!;)

In Ohio you can't get involved unless you or a family member are at risk. It's a No Hero rule.

So instead of trying to save someones life, you could get arrested!!!!

Ohio has a new "Castle Doctrine" law, which seems to:

Remove the duty to retreat from a criminal attack before using force to defend yourself or another if you are lawfully in a residence or vehicle (vehicle must be your own or that of an immediate family member).

So,
- If you protect your brother Bob from a criminal attack in his car, the court has to prove it was NOT in self defense.

- If you protect your friend Bob from a criminal attack in his car, you have to prove it WAS self defense.

- But . . . if you protect your friend Bob in your car, proof is back on the court.

Makes no sense to me.

By the time a person would compute all of this in their brain, seems like a lot of people could get hurt or killed!!! You have the right to defend yourself or others if???? Sounds like a stupid set of rules to try to follow to me. It use to be reach out and help your neighbor but not any more!!!

I can believe that. I also have heard that Ohio still has a death penalty on the books for people caught speeding in their cars.:eek: :LOL: :LOL:

I guess if you want to help someone out in Ohio, you'll just have to use an unregistered gun and disappear before the cops get there.:cool:


I only own unregistered guns and fortunately I live in PA not Ohio.

Thank God. I feel a little more comfortable about our legal system. My only trouble with having a conceal carry license is, you no longer have the right to claim ignorance of the law in any form.

My favorite and next rifle: Accuracy International AS50 BMG. Yep...I'm nuts about big guns and have too many to list for long guns. Anything long range. For short range have a pair of Glock 21's, Glock 17L, Super Redhawk .454 Casull as well as a Redhawk Alaskan .454 shorty. So....to say the least....I'd cry :CRY: if I had to give up my other hobby.

I wouldn't even live in an area where I had to carry a gun everywhere I went!!!! No job or lifestyle is that good! So you carry a gun, are you ready to shoot somebody, to kill them??? What if he wasn't trying to car jack you and was trying to get you to call 911 for some other emergency? What if you thought the bad guy was pulling out a gun, you shot him, and he was really reaching for his cell phone??? Too many "what if's" for me!!! Why not just stay out of areas or situations that could possibly require you to kill somebody??? If you're planning on just pulling your gun out to scare the bad guys away, you're as good as dead. The bad guys just shoot with no second thought...

Some talk about carrying a gun as if they really want to shoot somebody!!! What a sick thought---"Go ahead, make my day" was a good movie line for Clint, but hardly the way to resolve any kind of situation....

Have you ever killed anyone, face to face, point blank???? Do you have any idea what a burden that is to bear the rest of your life????

At least take the time to consider the possible consequences of carrying a gun... I think I'll just choose to avoid a situation that requires me carrying a gun....Killing isn't all it's cracked up to be.......justified or not...

So this incident means everyone should carry a concealed weapon, and have a loaded weapon in bed with them???

I just like to go out and shoot for sport and if i ever need one for home defence i know how to use it.

I have guns too, my own plus the one's I've inherited from my Grandfather, my father, and one Uncle. They are all safely locked away in a gun vault. Nothing wrong with owning guns, sport shooting, or hunting.... It's a right guaranteed to us by the Constitution and just re-affirmed by the Supreme Court....
