The tall deck pretty much fills the space!!!! I better get my lazy butt out in the garage and get going on Tom's coupe!!! Got to get it finished up for him before he gets back from Florida!!!!

Got to get the rest of the suspension pieces finished up for the 'maro, then get it on the scales and see where I'm at on the weight.... Didn't bother to scale it before I took it apart so I'm kind of anxious to see where I'm at on front to rear weight.... Got a lot of weight taken off the front end, so it should come out ok. Big block cars are notoriously front end heavy, trying to limit the ill effects of that as much as possible without major firewall surgery......

Didn't get a whole lot accomplished today, cut out the corroded battery tray and the panel like it on the other side and replaced them with some 20 ga....

Between blocking on Tom's coupe and all the visitors today I feel like I didn't get anything accomplished... Hopefully tomorrow will go better...

Anybody got a number what a complete big block with aluminum heads, intake, and water pump will weigh????

Any idea what a sbc, all cast iron weighs? Trying to figure my weight going by all the weight I've taken off.... Really want the car to be under 3,000 pounds!!!!

Hope so, Pat!!!! That would make the big block only 80 pounds heavier... Have to check my notes, but I'm fairly sure I've removed that much weight from the front, plus the battery will be in the trunk!!! Anxious to see what it looks like on the scales!!!!!

Sure hope the numbers are right, now I just have to make room to get the engine back a couple inches....

Some progress, thanks to a little help from my friends!!!! I got the rest of the junk out from under the hood, wow, was there a bunch of extra weight in there that will no longer be required!!!!

Also decided to switch the car over to rack and pinion, that stock steering box and arms weighs a ton! So, with the coilovers and rack and pinion going on the front, net savings in weight will be about 35 pounds!!!! Also moving the battery to the trunk, no weight savings but it is necessary weight that will now be in the right rear of the car where it can actually do some good.

Did a little more sheetmetal work on the front, too. All things considered, this is really getting to be a fun project!!!! Might have to raise the price when I'm ready to sell it, should be a fun car when it's finished!

Well, got a bit of tinkering done and a few more small pieces built. I'm concentrating on Tom's Coupe, but I can't stay on my feet real long anymore so when I got to sit down I sit on my roll around and cut out pieces of sheet metal.

So far, about $3,000.00 in the car and it will take another $1,500.00 or so to finish putting the new suspension, steering, and brakes on the car.... Any takers on the sale yet? Might even consider a partial trade.....as long as the trade-in is a Ford or a MoPar!!!!

I do have some more Merc pics in my gallery, Steve. We put together one or two of them every summer.... Rumored that one of them may be a moly tube chassis car this year..... Customer wants to do a bit of nostalgia racing....

if you want to spend some $$ on the battery, you can get a 'new' technology battery which weighs about 1/3 the original.
