Well let’s just say I spent an ample amount of time in the garage spot welding, grinding, spot welding, grinding and spot welding and grinding again. This is what I came up with. Looks like pretty good penetration by looking from under the dash. I would do a half dozen spot welds and then cool it off with an airhose, and then move down 6 to 8 inches and do the same and just kept repeating that over and over. Not bad for a guy that never took a welding or autobody class of any kind and a self taught in both. You learn a lot of stuff when you’re around people that does those things as long as you pay attention ask questions and practice.
  :whacked: :D ….joe
Looks great from my back porch! Heck, the front porch too!
A helipad at a Church !! .. is this how God shows Up ? .. i ride my bicycle about 25 miles a week and since it has gotten so crowded on the high way lately i drive several miles away and ride in parks or on walking paths such as is at this church in southern Tenn. .. i pedal around for an hour or so which gets me about 5 miles of riding in .. i have the pinto back on the road again but it has some issues .. i think i mentioned in my last post that i had welded on the spring perches at the wrong angle .. i have crutched it up with angle shims for the moment with every intention of cutting the perches back loose and correcting the angle someday but someone relieved me of my welder recently .. i know exactly who took it and have hopes of getting it back someday ..i also drilled my own 4 lug bolt pattern in the 5 lug axles and seem to have gotten one off center just a tiny bit .. i have a high speed wobble .. i may or may not worry about that .. i dont drive the car very much .. went to a car show nearby today and this little pinto was there .. a 17 thousand mile all original jewel ..
of course God doesn't need a helipad.
That is for his faithful servants.
I cant shake a bad feeling for not helping a customer at work a few days ago .. a fellow brought a badly worn out and bent push mower blade up to me and asked if i would straighten it out for him and i immediately said no .. i could tell the fellow was a bit mentally challenged and another person with him was very challenged and i noticed a look on their faces of disappointment .. but i explained that as a Lowes employee i could not fix the blade cause if i broke it Lowes would be responsible for replacing it .. it was bent that badly .. but still i could have offered to bring it home and do it on my own time .. it was some kind of odd blade as we did not have a new one like it .. it bugs me .. on another note this mustang has been showing up on Fbook local for sale for about a week but it never has any contact info .. asking price of 16 grand .. you bet i`d be all over it if i could contact the seller .. must be something fishy ..
$16k does seem very low but who knows these days. I definitely would message the seller and feel him or her out.
I hear you on the regrets of how we can sometimes interact with people. I think it's a good sign that it bothers us because it shows that our conscience is working and not calloused. Sometimes we can be in a poor mood and I hope there is grace on the receiving end for that too. As for the Mustang, how many pics of it are there? Usually the scams on FB show only one or two pics , the houses in the background don't fit the area advertised in and they have a weird way to contact them. It seems to cheap to still be for sale but I could be wrong.
I'm guessing it's just to frustrate people, and not real. You'd think if it was stolen they would never post a picture that could lead back to them, and if it was truely for sale it would be on a highend broker auction or have a painfull price tag with a contact number!
The scam works something like this"
Rube: "I saw your car listed and want it, I can send you a deposit to hold it for a few days till I can come get it"
Scammer: "I've had a lot of interest on the car, maybe I priced it too low, but I'm a man of my word, so the first person to send me a $100-$1,000 deposit via "XXXXXX" gets it.
Rube (multiple) send the deposit thinking they got the deal of the century, only to not every hear back from the scammer again. Most of these are outside of the country, so ever seeing their hard earned money ever again is the reality they face.
These scams have been going on for over 20 years, some on craigslist, some on facebook, some on Ebay, some on your local pages....
Sad, but true.
Bill S.
some contact info showed up for a minute then went away again .. it is being offered by a dealer .. 87 thousand original miles .. i think it is as MR M says .. i want to message and go look at it . there will be no deposits ..
All the scams I've seen are from " Dealers " as well.
Big shout out to Bill for pointing out the scam. I've run into stuff on craigslist where I find vintage Marantz receivers. One guy said he'd mail the receiver so I paypal'd him knowing that if it was a scam, I could report it and get my money back, glad I did. I reported him to Craigslist, they banned him, a week later under different name when he listed it again. I felt a bit vindictive so I reported him again, and again and again. He stopped trying to sell it, His one problem was, he kept using his same paypal account for payment so being an ammature scammer he eventually was busted for fraudulent behavior. These guys keep getting more clever on getting your money. When I purchase my last truck off a listing on craigslist, we met in person, did the title transfer at the DMV, then he was handed the cash after they confirmed he owned the vehicle outright with no leans on it. Just can't be too careful.
customers come in from time to time needing e clips yet they bring in what is considered a poodle clip .. i have not been able to satisfy them .. we dont have poodle clips .. will an e clip serve the same purpose ? i cant find enuff google info to satisfy me ..
looks like those are an internal lock device... E-clip is external. jmho.
Those are exterior poodle clips and are used in automotive cable applications like in the shifter cables. A thick e-clip may work but it depends on if the poodle clip is also a locking mechanism for the cable and bracket
fired up pinto ... literally .. i fired up the pinto today to go get some gas in it in case the toyota gave me trouble again .. i did not mention that last week the clutch master cylinder went out and was an all day job replacing it .. it even had me panicking looking for a car to buy .. anyway as i`m driving the pinto i`m smelling some pretty strong gas odors .. i figure its just running rich cause i dont drive it much .. i pop the hood as im filling up and dont see any obvious leaks .. i check under the car as well cause i had relocated the electric fuel pump when i put in the 8 inch rear .. no leaks .. i take off down the road going home and at a stop lite smoke starts pouring out from under the hood .. luckily i was in a turning lane mostly out of the way and i jump out and pop the hood and fire is everywhere ,, i yank my shirt off and start beating it as best as i could but i was mostly fanning it .. i try to get the breather off so i can get at the biggest part of the fire and burn the crap out of my hand on the melted rubber on the air filter ,, a fellow jumped out of his car with 2 bottles of water and was able to splash the fire out .. one of the good things about driving a well recognized car is lots of people will offer help .. about 5 stopped .. i found the leak was a small hole in the rubber gas line behind the breather that was pumping gas into the element and soaked it pretty good .. i did not have a knife to cut out the bad section so i took a piece of glass from some ones wrecked car and hacked the gas line in to .. luckily it was long enuff to reattach .. i did not have a screw driver so a dime loosened the clamps ..my throttle cable had melted in place so i had to unhook it and set the idle up in order to drive back home .. no fire damage to the body just some melted wires ,, all will be well in a few days ..
Well that's a hell of a way to raise your blood pressure! Yep, that'll do it!!
incredible day watching the power tour cruise thru north bama today .. my arm is sore from waving at so many cars and my neck hurts from looking left for 3 hours .. i parked my pinto at a car wash at a stop light in Hazel Green and was plenty visible to everyone passing by .. even some of the local people picked up that something was going on and stopped to watch a bit .. one car builder i follow on u tube came all the wat down from Canada to make the cruise .. i saw him come by .. i dont think he noticed me even though i gave a warning i would be there ,, i got noticed by plenty others .. a couple of other builders i did not see or maybe they came by after i left ,, three hours sitting in a hot pinto was enuff for me .. if it is 17 years before they come back again i cant promise i will be watching .. i made no effort to get pictures although several cars stopped at the Orielly`s store next door .. more later model vettes than anything but a nice selection of everything all across the board ..
not only did my left arm get tired and sore from waving for 3 hours but this morning i wake up to see a nice shade of red ..i remember years ago seeing guys with left arms darker than right arms and knew it was because they drove cars with no AC and their left arm hanging out the window .. HA ! one of the people who i had followed a bit prior to their going on the tour made a video of coming into Bama but stopped filming not but a minute away from passing by me and perhaps getting me on video .. so close to my 15 minutes of fame ..
Is the Canadian builder you follow DD Speed shop by chance? A friend of mine is driving a Cummins T300 service truck. Cummins is pushing their R2.8 swap engine and has 2 or 3 vehicles on the cruise too. Matt gets to help stranded participants or drives the 66 F100 that has a Cummins 2.8 in it. He said the first day there were over 100 over heated cars at least.
yes .. Dan and Dani .. they have got to be doing a lot of filming they just may wait to get back home to post it ..
The body is back on the frame…joe
about 10 minutes after i made this post Dan posted on youtube that he would not be filming any of his tour trip .. kind of a bummer to me .. i wanted to see myself on video .. HA .. today he posts that he had gotten lost on the way to Hoover and took the interstate thru Bama .. i`m like " i guess you folks in Canaduh have not heard of GPS ..
It actually came out beautiful. There’s a few small pin holes I’ve got to close up and then I’ll start filling the unnecessary accessory holes in the fire wall and there’s quite a few of them from the factory. And then I gotta make a couple small patch panels to attach the firewall to the actual floor. But it is coming along, and I call that progress….. joe
Thanks Joe! I hadn't noticed it earlier but there are a lot of holes in that firewall. They can't be all factory?? Are they?? All by the factory I mean.. But it is coming together and it's a good feeling when you're making progress!
Yup 99% of the holes are in that firewall are from the factory. I think there’s maybe three or four added and they were for the aftermarket heater and some kind of brake control. The tiny holes were made for push pins to hold the firewall insulation on. But yeah the firewalls are full of holes from the factory…joe
Thanks for the reply Joe. I guess "we" never really notice things like the number of holes in a firewall 'til someone has one exposed so completely as you have. Thanks again for the reply and the picture! 8-)
Yep, once you remove all the hardware and electronics from the firewall they’re peppered up pretty good with holes from the factory. It amazed me the first time I stripped one down as far as this one is…joe
Salt Lake City has a beautiful sunset this time of the year  :D …. joe
And I just noticed I’ve been on this forum for 19 years. My has the time flew by.
And if I remember right, some of those join dates are wrong. They got reset after a software update...
Same deal for me too. I started building my coupe in July 2000. And I know I was here then, not certain exactly what date but, I know it was before 2007.
When I happen by occasionally I always click "Today's Posts" to see what's new. Finding nothing, I'll offer up this one, purely random....;)
Adios, amigos!
