That's an old post! In any event, on my "first attempt" to get here I received this message, "PHP has encountered an Access Violation at 018BC55F"... then it took 4 more attempts to get actually in and see anything. Weird at times...

And it all seems like this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGkGNCUQtWY
And you know who you are. lol….joe
Oh, And the sunset in northern California is absolutely beautiful….joe
I keep my nuts/n/bolts/n/things in cans or bottles... I HATE working off the floor! LOL...
i threw away all my junk bolt buckets. 5 gals of crap that wont work. i just buy new and keep in clear plastic coffee jars.
I'm not liking that!
Never throw out fasteners
I hear you on that!
Here in NZ we have an abundance of Japanese/Chinese/European cars/tools/ machinery all of which use metric threads on their fasteners.
Our older machines are from America, Australia, and England who primarily used Imperial threads. And now the Imperial threaded nuts/bolts etcetera are becoming harder to obtain.
So for some time now (like 30 years,) I've kept any Imperial threaded bolt/nut/fastener of any description in bottles, or if they're larger: ice cream containers.
My mates know this, and quite often now I get someone turning up "Have you got a 5/8" UNF machine screw about 4" long?"
Or: "A 1/4" whitworth about 1" long?"
And most times I do.
Kinda similar with me but mine are all IH marked ( International Harvester ) or their company WP, (West Pullman) for the tractors I've restored.. or friends doing restorations. It used to be an obsession.. what can I say?!? LOL
i recently bought a vehicle .. a 08 suzuki xl 7 .. whatever that is .. i couldnt refuse the price even with it damaged on the passenger side .. i can beat that out some day or just drive it .. i`m still looking for a good car .. i am not buying a new one and the ones that are less than 10 years old already have 150 thousand miles on them .. i may go look at a 10 corolla today with a 99 grand on it ,, just broke in good ,, mine had 215 grand when it was totaled and i had no intention of getting rid of it ,, the corolla i want to look at was a light wreck in the front that has been fixed but the seller is acting all wierd on me .. the price is right though .. anyway if some of you need to fix clouded headlight covers and dont want it hired out this stuff did a really good job for me .. these covers were so bad i took a razor blade to them initially to scrape off the worst layer . the kit is rinky dink but it will do a decent job .. probably will do better than i did if you take a bit more time .. the 1500 grit and the polish is what really made the difference ,
While on the west coast we went to South Moon Bay recently with a really good friend to spread some of Denise‘s ashes on the West Coast and let Suzie step foot in the ocean for the first time. Yes we had a great time together.….joe
way back many dozens of years ago when i bought my first pinto i was working at the yard and so be it we had other wrecked pintos with parts needed to fix mine .. even the same color !! ,, fast forward a few years and the r code mustang comes in .. same situation i snap it up and we have gulfstream blue fender and hood from another car .. today i stop at a foreign junkyard to inquire about them looking me up most of the passenger side of my suzuki and wouldnt you know it .. a wrecked one of the same color had just came in .. i snapped up two doors and a fender for 300 $ .. sometimes things just go your way .. it is a bit of a rare vehicle so i had expected much difficulty in finding stuff ...same tan interior and everything .:p
Wow, great find and nice to see things are going well for you!
i ride my bicycle about 20 or so miles a week .. most times just cruising along at 5 or 10 mph or so .. on one road i travel there is one of those signs that give your speed .. the first time i tried i hit 20 mph .. it caught me off guard a bit so i was`nt at full speed and my old bike was an 18 speed .. my new bike has 21 speeds .. i tried again a few days ago and hit 22 mph with a little left in the tank i think plus i had already ridden about 6 miles .. anyway where i`m going is about 55 years ago when i was able to collect 6 returnable soda bottles i would ride to the store on my bike and trade them for a cold double cola ..10 cents plus deposit bottle .. on my route i had to ride past Dog Zilla .. a huge black German shepard .. i see now that they can run 30 mph .. i dint know that then but he never caught me so i must have been doing 31 on my little one speed 20 incher .. my 13 year old legs must have been a blur compared to my now 67 year old hams .. i`m going to try again and see if i can hit at least 25 .. yet even at that speed Usain Bolt could still run past me .. that man could put them up a down ,, he can run 27 mph ..i have tried taking a picture at speed but it`s too dangerous peddling like a mad man trying to hold the handle bar with one hand ,, trying to look through a one inch viewing screen .. i may have someone take a shot if i can hit 25 ..
Maybe get one of the EB's (Electric Bikes) to supplement your pedal power? Seems to be the going thing these days??
i was doing my duties at the big box hardware store ( Lowes) and a fellow comes up to me and says " dint you used to have a red white and blue V8 pinto ? .. i said " i still have one . " .. he said he meant 30 years ago .. turns out he was the guy who bought my first pro street pinto back in 91 ..he hurt his back a year later and his wife divorced him and he had to sell it .. i had heard he murdered her and was in prison .. anyway he still knows and sees the fellow he sold it to and will ask about it the next time they meet .. i`m not sure i want it back or anything but if it still exists i would like a picture of it ..
at least once a week i hear a car in the neighborhood across the woods cranking up and doing a few burnouts .. he will travel down the road a bit and do a full power blast then head back home .. i was riding my bike over there recently and saw some impressive burnout marks about a hundred yards long and as i got closer i saw a sign ,, i guess there is a " Karen" in every neighborhood ..this is his neighbor ,, HA ! ,,
Maybe he's a Dad and he is worried about his kids..??..?? If he's doing these burnouts a lot, I'd be pissed off too.
And putting out that sign is at least a polite way of saying knock it off! imho
Mmmmmmm, learn something new everyday
Love'em fried!
Visiting Idaho Falls and this is one of the many things I’ve seen While visiting. They also have a great park along the river where they have a water fall right on the river and a shallow water turbine power plant… joe
this suzuki i now have is probably the most incredible vehicle i have ever owned . coming from someone who has a pinto and had a corolla that may not be saying much ,, i knew nothing about the cars when i jumped at the low price and bought it ,, i needed a ride right now ,, it cranked up cold and did not make a single noise so that sold me .. it had a check engine on ,, the seller told me that the ABS traction system light comes on from time to time ,, it does and goes out a few days later ,, i had oriellys check the check engine light and the codes were for bad crank sensor and bad cams sensors ,, i replaced all that and still the light will come on after driving a bit ,, i had a good friend who i could trust to fix things but he quit the mechanic business ,, i have not asked him for help yet .. i looked into a XL 7 website and every complaint by owners has been the electrical systems with these things .. i can see why .. this thing starts itself basically .. you just turn the key to start and let go and it continues to crank till it fires up ,, sometimes it does not fire up ,, i turn the key off then after a few more tries it fires up .. seatbelt and emergency brakes warning bells go off whenever they want to ,, some kind of noise continues in the rear of the car for about 30 seconds after i shut it off ..i would have no problem spending a few thousand bucks to fix most things if i could trust someone to do so ,, beats spending 10 grand or more for another corolla ,, as i say the suzuki drives incredible ,, runs fine when it runs ,, at the moment i have black tape all over the half dozen warning lights .. HA ,, it may stay that way ,,
Run it till it don't!
just after my last post i ordered a code reader from evilbay .. i enjoy trying to figure things out when i have a fighting chance to do so ,, and there is a zillion how to `s on youtube ..
iv`e never been one to fret over how my yard looks .. my neighbors left and right mow their lawns every week whether they need it or not .. about a month ago my neighbor on the left cut my yard while i was at work .. i did not think it was that bad .. i could still find my way to my mailbox .. it was the worst time to cut it .. right in the middle of a dry spell ,, anyway i let it get out of control again and with a bit of rain it had gotten about a foot high ,, the neighbor on the right has been lamenting that i have not been very sociable of late ,, fact is i have been deathly ill .. i dont think it was covid as i was only bedridden one day but i was very sick for over a week .. i`d do my 5 or 6 hours at the hardware store and come home and shut down ,, he would even bang on my backdoor but i would not respond ,, just leave me alone ..yesterday he finally caught me outside and ran over to check on me .. i told him i was fine .. just have been sick .. right now he is cutting my yard ,, i was in the shop tinkering with the suzuki but quit when i saw him .. i`m too sick to cut grass remember .. i`ve got good neighbors but it is because i am also a good neighbor ..
cutting the grass in a drought is the worst thing you can do. not only does it take in dew but stores it for the roots. also keeps the soil cooler . my Saint Augustine is a ft tall and will stay that way until fall. i also dont rack leaves. i run my mower over it in spring and i've still got a green lawn .
I cut my neighbors lawn once. Their mower was broke, and I asked please to let me be a good neighbor and cut it. Mine is a rider mower. It wasn't a big deal yo me, but it made a huge difference for them.
Another time my neighbor on the other side cut my grass when my mower was waiting on parts.
It's what neighbors do.
well it`s been over a month since a person ran over my toyota and narrowly missed killing me and i have not heard a word from her or her insurance company .. it is my own fault that i am difficult to get hold of as i dont have a working phone sort of .. it only works when my internet is on .. but im` sure they have my mailing address and perhaps even my email .. i have not made a copy of the accident report as i dont know how to .. you have to scan something with a cell phone and send it to a printer somewhere .. i dont have that ,, i am going to stop by my insurance provider and see what they say or can do even though they are not responsible to do so ,, there were 2 eyewitness recordings of the event but i dont know how to get copies of them ,, the state trooper saw the citizen videos ,, it aint a real big deal but if someone owes me 5 or 6 grand for destroying my car i need to collect .. i did not have the towing company bring my car to my home .. they have sold it to pay for storage .. it was not fixable anyway but it was still my car ,, stupid me ,,,
Go to your public library. They can help. The insurance company might also.
From a quick Google search,
"Under Alabama law, crash victims must file a claim or lawsuit against the at-fault driver within two years of the crash. If you miss this deadline, you may lose your right to compensation."
Looks to me like the ball is in your court, and her insurance company isn't going to reach out to you to volunteer anything. As a "fault state" it's up to the injured party to figure out who all to go after to get what's due, and there may be multiple claims or lawsuits for a single accident. For example, you get hit at an intersection by a car that runs the red light, and from the investigation it's found that they've been drinking and are well over the limit. You have a claim against her, but you also might have a claim against the bar or restaurant that over served her and allowed her to leave. If the review shows that she swerved to miss a car pulling out of a parking lot before hitting you there may be another claim against that driver. Your insurance company may be able to offer some guidance, and if you had full coverage (collision, comprehensive and liability) on the 'yota they may take the lead going after the gal, but you may need to hire an attorney to get your money.
On the accident report, you can walk into the police station and get a hard copy of the report. You may have to visit the highway patrol office too, but I expect that they've compiled it into one document. The instructions for phone & computer are a convenience, and old school still works. Bottom line, in a fault state you have to look out for yourself and make justified claims based on the facts. Good luck!
Yes that’s the son sitting in a deep freeze. The water is about 45* and don’t ask me why….joe
Hoss,
A friend lives in UCLA (upper corner of lower Alabama) confirmed my statement. His truck (full coverage) was T-boned by a young gal driving her mama's car, and mama had liability only. His insurance paid him for damages less his deductible. Several months later his insurance sent a letter saying that mama's insurance had denied the claim, saying they didn't agree with the assignment of liability. My friend had to repay his insurance company, and elected to have his truck repaired at a local shop that had reasonable rates.
As I said earlier, you're on your own to get your money for the 'yota. Again, good luck in your battle!
i am going to speak again with my insurance company .. i dont know my current agent as my policy has changed hands several times in the last 40 plus years i have been with them ,, but the local office is run by a relative of mine ..i know now i messed up right from the beginning of the wreck ,, i kicked my way out of the drivers door as it was crunched up pretty good ,, i was standing in front of my car looking at the damage and the fellow who videoed it all came up to me and told me i had blood running down my face .. i did not feel that .. the state trooper asked if i needed an ambulance ,, i said no ,, anyway i had a slight headache for the next two weeks .. i was looking left into the parking lot when i was hit and my head hit the drivers door glass cutting me a bit .. looking back i should have at least had myself looked at for a possible mild concussion and a big payday lawsuit but i dont run that way .. if they will make a little bit of effort to replace the yota i will be happy ,,
I am sure there are at least 3 advertising Law Firms on your TV begging you to call them if you've suffered an injury from a slip / trip / fall / auto accident. The insurance companies will give you the cold shoulder - that's why ambulance chasers have become popular. If you do nothing - they win. You give'em monies for 40 years and now you need'em , better make sure they are there to protect your interests, you've paid for this "privilege"!
Lawyer up. Sue your insurance and the other driver.
