with a small car it would help to dump some TQ he will get out of the hole better and i have ran the T rams on the street with small CFM AFBs on them they work good and it will make more power over a single plane with re work gm rods with ARP or SPS bolts have seen them go past 6800 rpm and a stock cast crank low piston weight and a good valve train with the right bottom and clearance it will run just fine

Yes, I'm running 396 crank in 454 block makes 427 (or 439 .060 over). Making high 11's should be easy low 11's with stock/oem heads not so easy?... power from 427 more from high revs, hence the short crank... spin it to 7000 with something like 255/265 duration but heads need to breath, maybe some good stock rect port 454 heads with some port work? $3500 might be a tough budget depending what parts you have laying around and what you can pick up cheap?

i would have a hard time building the 049or 781 from the point there are better iron heads out there and in the long run cheaper? but i have used the GM heads in many builds that see over 6500 and did not seam to run out of head so on the smaller 427 i think a bowl job and some 219-188 and some chamber work would do the trick. but like i said there are better heads and cheaper in the long run the stock GM EX side could be better and all the new heads do work better on the EX side of the headIrish Diplomacy ..the ability to tell someone to go to Hell ,,So that they will look forward to to the trip

With his 3.73 gear I think he would be better off running a 496.

well the 373's i thought would be a good choice, because id like to be able to go race it and then drive it somewhere without it redlining itself all the time

Go with a 80% strip 20% street build 468 BB Iron head and run a 456 gear . That will be COOL . And a tilt glass front end

now how am i suppose to drive that to arlington/seattle and or bakersfield ? LOL yes glass tilt nose will be in the projects picture. like i say i am doing my homework and gathering parts so when it comes home in the spring ill have everything i need. i want to build this thing to drive! not to sit on a trailer or at home doing nothing because its not street friendly.

Run a Ford 9" rear end and switch out the Center Section to a 3.55 for your road trip . Then re-install the 4.56 for drag racing ? COOL
