Don't forget to sleep LOL. When I was looking for Camaros I passed up several of them because they didn't have Factory air, now here you go and rip it out and put a plate over it LOL.
If you think you Camaro is (was) bad you should have seen my 68 rust was every where. Your doing it right good job
My thoughts are this: I have to replace all the lines, condenser, evaporator, have the POA valve rebuilt and set to 134a pressure, the outer box is broken, the inner stuff is very brittle from being in AZ. The wiring was/is melted to some control cables behind the dash too. So either spend money on finding nice OEM stuff because the repop stuff doesn't fit, or just bite the bullet and buy vintage air for it. That's my plan. I got the bolt on plate so I'm not technically altering the body much. If I ever wanted to put factory stuff back I could. The main reason I had to ditch the HVAC box was it had an ear that hung out behind the RH head and the head was hitting it. So bye bye broken stuff and now I have to save more money.
Oh, this one is not bad. It does have some weird rusty places but nothing like what I've had in years past. This was one of the high lights of getting this car was how solid it was. Finding anything solid this old in this area might as well be up there with winning the lotto.
You can see what my dog thought of it Sorry about it being side ways my computer has a mind of its own
 Charlie that is too funny!
Here it is before I sold it
That turned out sweet!
Seems like a guy has to choose between rust or melted plastic. I hear you on the new stuff not fitting, most stuff is awful. When I started gathering a few parts for that car I found a very cheap OER dash for sale, but he wouldn't ship it because the buyer had to come in person and see for themselves how poorly it fit. The used one I put in there is a bit sticky but It is a good start for a dash cap. I'm going to be in Des Moines Aug 3 but it's going to be a drive down there, take care of some business and drive back type of day. One of these time I'm going to have to stop by and see if the Camaro remembers me:LOL:
Hey Charlie... you left the keys in the trunk again! 8-)
Four words of advice:
Rust belt donor car.
Even rust belt 70-73 Camaros are bringing $2500-$5500. Sometimes higher if it is a Z/28. Parts for these are getting nutso too. Nice original dash pads are bringing $450. Window moldings are $100 per set. I should have kept a couple rusty ones I was tired of looking at!
Same story different month. The Camaro isn't running or driving yet but I have been putting in work on it. My goal is to get it running and make it drivable before the white stuff flies. I doubt I get it to a finished stage before winter. I have some other projects that need finished and the 40 Ford needs stuck together this winter. So if this at least runs and drives and the interior is back in it before November, I'm calling it a win.
I got the engine bay and front half of the floor primed and painted. I did find a good way to use up the old speedway catalogs I had laying around. Good thing the tape was free too. :p The 5.3/Super T-10 are mated together and in the car now. Finally got the heater/ac delete plate installed and even put SS hardware on it. I have been going to the local you pull it to acquire the correct hardware I was missing. I got the F-body dip stick modified and installed. I cleaned and painted the exhaust manifolds, put on the plug wires, and replaced the old wiper motor assembly. I even got the window trim parts I was missing and got a pair of sport mirrors for it. Now to get the wire harness done. Currently I'm making a bracket to locate the z bar because the one on the 621 bell housing is too far back.

Times 2 Ryan, it's coming along with good progress, at least you're in re-assembly now..
Looking good !
Thanks guys. They say little by little and you'll get there but every time I look at my list of stuff to do I see next summer in the back of my mind.
I guess that's what happens when you do multiple projects at the same time, then there's the kids.. oh and the family in general.. and the honey-do list... then there's the Xmas gifts deal.. then there's the house maintenance thing too!
Did I miss any?...:eek::eek::LOL::LOL::p:p:)
(Just pokin' the bear.. ol' buddy ol' pal o'mine!)
"....Did I miss any?...."
I don't know isn't there something about that whole having a job thing? And as I recall Ryan seems to get a little busy around harvest time driving a truck.
Just trying to bring a little more sunshine there buddy :LOL:

Mikes, you're right! MikeP, I did get the call on Tuesday wanting me to start playing billy big rigger this Saturday. I can't though as I already have plans to take the kids to a car show. I guess I start next Saturday. :)

Today I did more honey do stuff and finally got to the garage. First thing I did was installed the coolant bleed line that I painted the night before. Now I have to make a line to complete the bleed line. Originally I think it went to the surge tank in the pick up. I'm running it down to the thermostat housing and going to try to hide it to clean it up some.
I had to make a bracket for the Z bar stud to mount to. Originally, I mocked it up with the Z bar stud in the stock BBC bell housing when I stuck the engine in. That had the Z bar angled back and it had the rod going to the fork at an angle. That bothered me. So now I'm making the z bar straight and of course it comes with more head aches. The block on the LS's kick out near the bell housing area where as on the old SBC's it is recessed in. So now I need to take 3/4" out of the Z bar to get the Z bar to fit in between the mount and the ball stud.
This weekend is the car show that I used to put on. The 4H club I used to belong to actually puts on the car show now. They still are making trophies and their leader called and said they were a trophy short. I whipped one up for them and then cleared it. They are doing top 20 and 10 other awards this year. It should be a good show. I'm still glad I'm not putting it on. I don't miss all that stress and out of pocket expense.
Good work on the car (as always.)
And awesome work on the trophy! That's really cool.
OH, the day job goes without saying and I didn't forget the truck driving at harvest.. I just didn't want to rub it in that bad! 8-)
Well you guys jinxed me....... Now another house project is going to kill my project progress.
My wife noticed a brownish looking residue by the back wall behind the toilet in our down stairs bath room on Monday. I went in there and moved the garbage can we keep in there and didn't see anything. When I moved the bulk toilet paper container I saw what she saw. I was kneeling down on the floor at this point. I happened to look next to the toilet and I saw a water bubble peaking out. I then realized the toilet was leaking.
I ripped it off and now I am replacing some dry wall, and ditching the 2 layers of laminate. The foam soaked the water up so that must be why we weren't seeing the water. Just what I wanted to do.
I have been able to get some camaro stuff done though at wee hours of the night and morning. I decided I wasn't going to paint the car now for a while. Hmmm, what to do with the areas some idiot decided to fix the body work on. I decided I would try my hand at fake patina. For now I'm leaving the car as a weathered old car. Commonly referred to as a ratty muscle car now. I just know if I go to paint this car how it will be. I'd rather not go down that rabbit hole until after the 40 is done. I've put that car off far too long.
I fixed some spots on the LH fender, and the LH quarter panel. You can see the filler on the rear quarter in the 3rd pic. I still have some blending to do. What do you think?
I'm going to try and get the spoiler done next because I'm going to try to put some charcoal gray weathered stripes on it. That will sure help my getting it running thing out I'm sure.
I think the car is looking fine as far as the "patina" matters..
Sorry to hear about the plumbing jinx.. I didn't mean it!
Hey the wall color. Is that "Golden Gate Bridge"???
Don't feel bad. I have to pressure wash the house sometime in the very near future. Fun, fun. I've just been waiting for it to cool off a little. At least that's what I've been telling my wife.
Today I took some time and worked on the car. I ordered another bushing for my z bar because it came missing one. Now that it arrived I wanted to get my z bar mount finished so the car would have an operational clutch. I was really nervous about my exhaust being in the way. I had a bracket a friend traded me but that one wouldn't even bolt on my bell housing like it was supposed to. I used it to make the new one.
Well, luckily the z bar fits. There's probably a quarter of inch between the z bar and the exhaust manifold. The clutch rod is nice and straight now and is way better than before. Now I just have to make a bracket to hook the clutch return spring to and this portion should be done other than maybe adjusting it. The last pic is just showing accessories going back on. Not huge progress just more money getting thrown in it.
I love those old Camaros. I must be rough having that many awesome projects awaiting your time. :) At least the Camaro is "almost" a driver. That should ease the pain some.....
Looking good, I can't wait to drive it next summer :)
In between work and more work I've been trying to get small things done on the car. I got the spoiler painted and I've started the weathering process. I had some fire arms I was trying to sell to fund more car parts but had no luck. I actually traded one shot gun for another double barrel. So I guess it wasn't a wasted trip.
Mike, the last pic is for you. I saw it and thought it was cool. Guy wants $400 for it so I think I'm out. Haha
You nailed the weather look on that spoiler! I've never seen a Cub Cadet like that before,is that factory or did somebody make it that way?
Thanks. Somebody painted it like that. From all the research I've done, IH never did it. Who ever did it did a pretty decent job. It looks pretty cool to me. If he'd come down on it I might buy it just to use to make a half scale tractor for the kids.
.
Well, the hood stripe isn't stock.
Did he want 400 for all of it or just that 1?
The Camaro is looking good. You're getting so close now. 8-)
And the deck on the seat isn't a cub cadet piece.
