Just one more thing and then I'll leave you alone. I drilled undersized holes and used short self tapping screws as I was concerned about the rivets cracking the fiberglass, plus my car had the headliner in it when I did the insert.

No need to leave me alone. I welcome peoples thoughts. Lord knows I could use all the help I could get. I bought the rivets already and I don't think it's going to be an issue. I know of two guy's locally that have glass cars and they riveted theirs on. I'm actually more concerned about weakening the structural integrity of the roof drilling close to 300 holes in it.

Ha! I just drilled the first hole (rear center) and the nail end of the rivet barely pokes through to the inside. So it's over an inch thick!!!! That could be why it weighs so much.!?(Roll eyes) On the sides I used a visegrip C-clamp to measure the thickness at each door opening and it's almost 3/4". So it's looking more like self tapping screws or some tiny button head screws and locknuts. I have the buttonheads and they are stainless. So much for worrying about the structural integrity of the roof being compromised.Last edited by BIG-JIM; 01-01-2016 at 08:57 PM.

We covered the car in plastic sheets and glued on the foam, cut it to size, and removed all the tape and plastic. Then I laid out the vinyl and let it warm up and unwrinkle. Threw my daughter inside and had her poke the holes through while the wife and I put the trim on with the cleco's to hold them in place till the screws come in. I'm very happy with the way it turned out (so far).
