He does it all (well not interiors) but pretty much everything else. Funny thing is he doesn't even work in the auto industry. He is a plater (aviation I think).

I did some tinkering this weekend. I played with the dual carb linkage and the throttle & TV cables. So much for using the cables I had. I ordered up a whole Lokar kit with everything I need no more messing around. The bracket I got didn't work out. Hell it wasn't even close to working. I also installed the 700R4 geometry corrector. I took the mocked up waterpump riser off, cleaned everything, polished all the bolts and re-installed it permanently. The spacers are all installed on the lower crank pulley and I'm happy with the way it lines up. I took the plastic (Mock-up) alternator bracket off and made the permanent one out of aluminum (that was a shit load of work) so that's done. It took me a couple of tries making spacers to get it lined up perfectly but we got it. Bob shot some filer primer on the body and it's just about ready for blocking. He is having fun with the doors for sure.

Thanks Mark. I'll be even more proud once I hit the road in it.

Okay so I went and got the belt at NAPA it took me two tries and I'm going back one last time. The first one was too long (by a lot), the second one (Pictured) is way better and will work but I think I should go one tick shorter. I still have some adjustment on the alternator bracket. The thing I'm a little concerned about is the crank pulley contact area. It doesn't seem to be a whole lot. If I get a shorter belt it will increase the contact area slightly. I'm worried about slippage does anyone know the minimum contact area? I found info on the Arc of Contact but it only referenced a 2 pulley configuration and I think it was more about electric motors driving things. What do you all think? Worrying for nothing? My luck I'll start it up and it will squeal like a stuck pig.

OK-why do you have a tripple lower pulley? Whats sticking down from the area of the pan rails? looks like a u bend ground scrper? It also looks as if your doing an under drive pulley set??

Pulling a mech water pump and fan is quite a load plus a high amp alternator get s squeemish (maybe squeelie)

Your alternator bracket may leans in as it is only mounted with two bolts to lower block?

I believe the water pump risers push it out requiring the extra belt lower pulley, also may be what makes the water pump look like it's under driven.

The triple pulley I had lying around already so I used it. It is a stock diameter though. It's only a 40 amp alternator. I've been giving the alternator some thought and may put an extra arm on it like the one pictured below. Not sure what pan rails you are seeing the only thing on either side of the pan is the exhaust. The black lines are trany cooler lines.

    Jim,
What if you simply duplicated the bracket you made, shorten the two tube spacers by the thickness of the metal, and mount one against the block, the second as it's mounted now, and add another spacer for the adjustment bolt? You'd effectively box the mount, eliminating any concern for bending, I would think. Might look kind of trick, too?

I could do that and add the arm and cut the current arm off. So it would look just like the orange one.

And that would work, too! Just thinking that the added arm is not really necessary if you double up the whole bracket. It'll be rigid.
