The great thing is that the satisfaction of what you've done with the dash will give you miles and miles of smiles and smiles.

Now.......you've had the pic of the alternator bracket for a couple weeks.........how come that hasn't been made yet? Time to stop slackin'!!!

Okay so this is the last dash pictures I will bore you with I promise. I did the gauge panel tonight and I think it was well worth the effort. Though I didn't get the horizontal plain to match the other 2 ( I started lower on this piece) I'm happy with it. At least the pattern matches. I included a before and after shot. Now I can move on to bigger and better things.

    Beautiful finish.

Nah! Then it becomes a job and Job=no fun. You may see me do another one though. I have a buddy that is doing a 31 Model A 5 window and he has a 34 Chevy dash in it and something like this would look kool as hell in his car. Besides he is the guy doing the bodywork and paint on my car for next to nothing so it will be nice to give back.

I stopped over my buddy Bob's house and caught him squirting some high build primer on the body. It's looking really good. He has most of the belt/body lines all smoothed out and a lot of the fiberglass defects fixed. He told me that so far there is ZERO body filler on the car (that'll change once the doors go on). He is hoping to have it in a guide coat for blocking by next weekend.

I love it that you guys can just drag it out in the back yard and shoot it! If I did that where I live the environmental gestapo would haul me off to jail! However, a couple of years ago I threw up some plastic in my garage and sprayed epoxy primer all over my fenders & hood!!! Ha! Take that! The neighbors were all like, "what's that smell??" I don't smell nothin'.....

Randy, I thought the same thing. I made a temporary garage paint booth in Council Bluffs, IA; Omaha, NE; Overland Park, KS; and VA Beach VA. Never did one outside, though, and I never heard a complaint about the smell. Of course, Peoples Republic of California is a whole other deal.

Yeah his neighbor on one side is his Mom and on the other side is an over the road trucker who is never there. Plus he mows everyone lawns around him and the nearest neighbor behind him is almost an acre away. I was more concerned with the fact that he is so close to his garage (over spray). That corner of his garage is going to be Washington Blue one day....LOL

That's great to see the body is coming along and with little to no filler is always a plus!

Bob is finding lots of surprises in the body. Being a bodywork newbie I asked "So what do you do when you find a pin hole just hit it with some spot putty?" His reply? "No I poke at it with a screw driver (Phillips)" He could tell by the look on my face I was shocked. "Well now's the time to find out if there is an air pocket there and fix it. If it is all painted and sitting in the sun that air pocket may pop and you don't want that happening after its painted" Good point I suppose. You will see in the pictures all the green epoxy primer spots were all the holes he filled in. He did a bunch of work in the door jambs and a bunch more on the firewall too. It's coming along nicely. The pictures don't look much different but when you are standing there in person seeing it boy you can tell he has done a LOT of work. He also did the driver side rocker panel and wheel well. I'm really happy with the progress. Getting closer!
