Hell that is no good Steve, bloody nosy neighbours should mine their own business. Your laws must be tighter over there then ours as I would thing 99% of our cars get worked on in the home garage at some time and as long as we keep the noise down at night or early morning, things are fine.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

Not quite right Mark.
DIY work in a home shed is fine with N Z Regional and Local Councils; but as soon as you set up a commercial operation (doing work for financial remuneration,) it's a completely different scenario.
In a commercial operation there has to be washing and toilet facilities, off-road parking, access for the disabled, and a whole raft of other rules and regulations to comply with.
How do I know this?
Been there, done that, several times.
Involving different local bodies.
Some Councils even demand two toilets, one for men, the other for women.
And I would assume that it would be these types of regulations that stymied Steve's mate.johnboy
