I have never run across them, and everything I see on the web is UK or Australia based. They may be used, but not that I've seen.

Roger, here in the good ole USA, think about almost every piece of scaffolding that you ever put up. The fasterners are very common securing the X bars on them.

Right!! I didn't think of scaffolding, but I do recall those on the construction sites I visited over the years. Thanks!
