You know, come to think of it I had the roof cut off the other car when I cut the floor pan out. I hope I can get it in the door in one piece! If not, I guess it'll be in two pieces.

That's a LOT BETTER! IMHO!! LOL..
Lets just say its in the long term forecast. I've been holding onto that picture for a while.
AHHHhhhh... a method to the madness!! 8-)
That's the plan! First is to get the mechanicals done, get it roadworthy, and drive it a while. If all goes well then sometime next year the lid is coming down and it's getting painted.
Can't wait to see it! I'm likin' that plan! LOL..
Im a happy camper now; my buddy finished his Camaro and moved it out so I've got my garage space back! I pulled the 51 in last night after some cleaning and spent a few hours tonight cutting out the last of the old rocker and floor, cleaning up the braces, and starting to trim where the replacement floorpan is going in. Still 100 degrees today but a lot nicer working out of the direct sun.
At least it looks like you have good cross bracing to work with. And yes being out of the sun this time of year is a good thing.
.
Yup, like Mike said everything looks good and solid underneath!
How did the Camaro come out? Hope he was happy with the results!
His Camaro came out nice; i should have took a picture. It's an 87 IROC; he ditched the 305 and put in a ZZ3 small block with a set of Edelbrock aluminum heads, a bigger cam, and a chip upgrade for the factory tuned port injection. He hasn't cut loose with the throttle yet but it sure sounds healthy.
Last section of inner rocker built and welded in; starting on floorpans this weekend.
I didnt get a whole lot done today as my 5 year old grandson was here and wanted to help. That's cool; it's always fun breaking in a new little gearhead. We went to a carshow last night and he's excited to get this one done and take it to the show. He did say,"Paw paw, you need to put a fast motor in it!" He was pretty starry eyed at a big 6-71 blown Hemi powered Willys that was there. So anyway, we got the back half of the floor trial fitted and it looks pretty good so we pulled it back out and he painted the bottom of the panel for me.
Nothing like having good help around to make things go better!!!
Has paw paw ordered the hemi and blower yet??:LOL::LOL:
Kids are great
Don't look like it will be to long to see it motoring under its own power
.
Hah! I wish! I am reconsidering the small block Mopar I have sitting here, though. He's a great kid and I'm glad he seems to be taking an interest. He likes hanging out in the garage and going to the shows. I hope that stays with him as he gets older; my sons both had some interest but would get bored pretty quick when they were working out there.
I had to extend the sides 2" so the floorpan edge would have something to sit on. I went ahead and painted the framerails and braces while I had access, too. The panel fits good; now to start tacking it down and move to the front half. So far, so good.
Looks good Falcon, floor should be nice and solid!
Thanks, Dave. It's welded down every 3" all the way around and it feels rock solid. Now onto the front.
Lookin good,Falcon..glad I've got past that stage on Lynda's Customline..It didn't have much rust in the floor anyway,thankfully..
Yeah; floors are really tedious. I'll be glad when this part is finished. I'm trying to dump as much spare time as I can into it to get it behind me. You're luck you had some solid ones!
You did it! I should never have doubted it! LOL... It does look very solid and secure, and with all the paint in the cracks / crevices it should be protected for many years to come. Thanks for the pics too! 8-)
Yeah, it's in there. You were right, though; it wouldn't go in one piece, I had to slice and dice.:3dSMILE:
Well,, this is one of those times where I don't enjoy being right.. But you got it together and it looks great!
Looking good still have a good eye watching you .

I got the last of the floors tacked in today; now I just need to go around and finish welding the seams. I bought the replacement bolt in panel that goes in the drivers side floor. It gives you great access to everything when it's out. After a lot of thought I also decided to go with a small block instead of the flathead. I plan on driving this a lot so I think a few more beans will make it more enjoyable. Nothing big, just a 318 with a bigger cam and some standard bolt ons, along with this Dakota 5 speed I picked up yeaterday. It should make a nice cruiser.
Floor looks great, Falcon! I think you'll be a lot happier with the 318, they're a good engine and with the 5 speed should be a good mpg car, too!!!!
Yeah, I think so, too, Dave. I bought what was supposed to be a 360 a while back but it turned out to be a 318 when I tore it down. The good thing was I only gave $100 for it and it was in great shape inside. I figure I might as well use it; they make decent power and run forever plus it's sitting here right under my nose. So with a V8, 5 speed, 3:73 limited slip, and 4 wheel disc brakes it should be a good mannered highway car and fun to drive.
Yuppers, should make for a very nice package for cruizin'!
Hey falconvan, i have a Wiend 4bbl manifold sitting in the garage for a 318 that you can have for very reasonable price if you want it.
Sounds good; I'll send you a PM.
I got one rocker welded in tonight. Not too bad of a fit for a cheap re-pop. The curve wasn't a perfect match so with a little persuading I got a decent fit and the door gaps are acceptable. The doors close nice and solid, too.
none of the re pops are a good fit, have to do some adjustments on all of them. Looks good on the car though, still easier then making them!
That's for sure. They do fit better than the ones I bought for the 48.
Yeah Falcon, it's either fab your own, put up with the ill fitting re-pop pieces, or build a 'glass bodied car with a SBC and look like everyone else!!!! What a dreadful thought!!:eek::eek:
