Slantback,
Like has been said earlier, you'll be looking for crud in the float bowl that may be plugging up your jets. If you find contamination you'll likely need to pull the carb and blow out the passages or at least dump the bowls.

The more I think about it this does not sound like a carb problem to me. Nine times out of ten a "miss" is going to be electrical or timing, including popping back through the carb. Have you checked your distributor cap for crossfire tracking? Any moisture in the cap? Arcs & sparks from plug wires? It really sounds to me like you're getting some sort of crossfire, maybe intermittent? Is it a steady miss? Could you have a bad plug like Gusaroo had in another thread?

I thought for sure I was over zealous with the anti seize...

I just pulled a set of Champions out of the engine in my 27 that had very few miles on them and replaced them with NGK's. I can't tell you how much better the engine runs. Stronger all the way thorugh the rpm range and off idle there is no stumble at all.

Glad you found what was causing your problem.
If it were mine I would first start it in the dark and look for sparks, then pull and inspect the distributor cap, then buy a set of good quality plugs if it's still there. Just my opinion
