Thankfully safety as well as performance has improved immensely since the days of the front engine Top Fuel dragsters!!!!!!

    I know that car!!!

And Carbone drove for us for a short while also

When we went to the rear engine car, Rick Ramsey actually drove with just a face sock (no breathers) and goggles

For a period of time the full face helmuts didn't have a good fire proof shield--it took that big crash at Indy 500 and Herm Petersens crash and fire before Simpson and Bell came out with a good shield

yeah sure, especially when the engine pops and the blower ends up in you lap, or the driveline comes apart and takes a leg off, or the rear end grenades and you lose your______.

Everybody seems to remember how kewl the FED's were, but not a lot care to talk about the inherent dangers of running one.... I really like the old FED's, would consider building a Super Comp (7.90) car.... Much faster then that and I want all the excitement to be behind me!!!!!!

i have talked to alot of guys and from what i can gather, the clutch was more of an issue then the rearend. although i do know of a few instances of rearends locking up. sorokin comes to mind right off the bat. but with todays rearends, clutches, and engine restraints it would be totally worth it to me. besides could be worse could get hit by a falling star at the risk of making somebody mad ive taken on the persona of , if you times up its up. imho i dunno i guess id rather be going out at the racetrack then asleep in bed.

Wasn't it Jimmy Nix who had the really bad experience with a rear end coming apart???? Think that was his name. Met him once down in Joliet, Mo. Now I don't even know if I have his name right!!!!!
