If you drive this vehicle on the street, DO NOT INSTALL A SPOOL.
What you need to do is get the chassis sorted out. A cheap and easy way that I and other racers have used for years is to install an air shock on the right rear only. Gradually increase the air pressure until you get 2 equal black marks, then record the air pressure you have in the shock. Once you have the preload established and both tires are hooking (or not hooking) equally, then it's time for some good tires. Get a set of DOT-approved BFG drag radials and mount them up on an extra set of wheels for Saturday night games. (18 to 22 psi).PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.
".......So sanded it all down and resprayed. ......" Been there. done that on a couple of paint jobs over the years. Usually took me a couple of days to get over being mad before I started...
