In this picture of the passenger side, what is the finned thing in the circle??

Hey Weasel Diesel,
Your are correct, the item on the drivers side of the firewall is the voltage regulator cover made by Cal Custom (part #40-63). The finned item on the passenger side is a horn relay cover also made by Cal Custom (no part #). The horn relay on the original coupe (and mine) is a 1956 Corvette 913 relay. I don't really know why this is on the coupe as it is not hooked up. Here is a FREEBEE for you. The master cylinder on the origianl coupe can be bought at Napa Auto Parts Item#: UP34404. Encolsed below are some better pictures of these items for you to get a better look at. Hope this helps you out.

You may know this already but just in case.....If you're using a standard Ansen or similar peddle assembly, don't forget to swap out the internals in that master cylinder. The Chevy unit has the brake internals (which includes a residual valve) on the left and the clutch internals (without a residual valve) on the right side. You need the brake valving on the right side with an Ansen setup so you'll have to remove the "C" clips and swap the internals side to side. Its a simple 5 minute job. That said, replacements from NAPA have been known to come with residual valves in both sides and your clutch will not work correctly with a residual valve. Why Chevy reversed it in their linkage assembly I have no clue.Last edited by Rufus; 10-15-2009 at 05:58 PM.

I'll have to look at mine today and report back, but I think the o rings go directly under the lid, but before the paper gasket.
Mine never seeped, so wherever they are in there they must have worked. I'll let you know tonight, in the event someone else doesn't post an answer first.

Oh come on now. We know it is purple. But it is a good cause. I saw a bumper sticker that even my wife liked - Save the Taa Taas.“Ability is what you're capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it”--Lou Holtz.
