Just for the record, drilling from the outside was not an option because of a reinforcement strip on the inside that made things very complicated - was in the way and needed to have large holes drilled through it to accomodate the bolt's heads - Kinda hard to explain you'd have to see the inside of the trunk to understand...

For now just trust that I HAD to drill from the inside. So, there.
